As I walked through the gates with Gordon and Fillip on my heals people stopped and stared in the busy quart yard, and people began to quite down to a whisper and move to the side making a path for us to get through. I moved my hands to the hilts of my swords that rattled in place in the scabbard. "They always have to stare at us." I heard Fillip mumble to Gordon from behind me. "They're staring at Paullina and you know that." I looked back at Gordon giving him a warning look so he'd shut up then looked forward at the gray castile that sat under heavy storm clouds as I sighed and listened to the thunder under my feet and the whispers in the town.
"Halt right there guard!" I rolled my eyes coming to stop as Winston walked my way letting Gordon and Fillip pass me. Winston was the largest and strongest man on the queen's guard and he's also my caption. "Sir." I bowed quickly as he stopped crossing his large arms on his wide chest, he wore a blue tunic tucked in his paints and meatal that covered his arms and legs. "You were suppose to be her yesterday." He said his deep voice filled with streets as I sighed. "I know sir." I nodded the cool wind blowing through my short wet black hair. "There was a storm when we left Boltone we had to stop sorry we can't see through rain." My words came out a lot more bitter then inttended making him glard down at me. "Care full young girl I can easily take you off the queen's gaurd intierly." His brown eyes had worry in them. "Sorry sir but I need to talk to the queen amedently." He sighed. "Come on."
He dropped his arms to his side as I followed him up the gray steps to the castile. "I didn't know girls were on our gaurd I always thought they were to we-" Jarde elbowed a new recrut in the gut as I glanced their way. "She's brave unlike them." I heard him mumble as the doors open to the crown room. "Paullina." Queen Victoria stood from her royal thrown when I walked her way making me stop and bow. "Your majesty." I heard a displeased sigh. "Paullina don't bow." The kindness in her soft voice made me flench as I looked back up into her hazel eyes that sent a shiver down my spin. "What's the report?" She asked with worry. "They don't want to compile to the treaty." She sighed putting her hand on her temple. "But they had an offer." I said trying to make my face stay passive. "W-What is it?" she asked unsure. "Marrige." Her eyes widdend at me making me want to hug her and tell her that she should say no. "Dose that sound like a good deal to you?" I took a small breath and smiled small. "Yes I believe it would do great good to our kingdom." my face was guarded. "I see." The words were cold toward me. "Well this is going to take a while to decide on." She cleared her throat. "Paullina escort me to my room please." I felt Cole's eyes on me I quickly glanced back at his brown eyes. "Yes my queen." I walked with her out of the thrown room in silence the sun barely shined through the windows as we walked up a few stairs to her quitters, and once we were out of ear shot she spoke finally. "What are your real thoughts on the proposal of marring?" She quickly glanced at me then returned her gaze on the hall in front of her. "I told you my queen." She stopped in her tacks and gave me a saddened look that made butterflies appear in my stomach, as I looked at her long flowing brown hair to her lips then her long simple white dress, it took everything in my power not to reach out to her. "Why are you acting like this doesn't effect you?" She asked her words as sad as her eyes. "It's not supposed to effect me my majesty." I couldn't bear to look her in the eyes, as she sighed and continued walking.
As she entered her room she stop and looked to me. "Come in." She ordered so I did as told as told. She shut the door behind me the room was gray from the large window that was uncovered showing the whole courtyard. I watched as she stepped in front of me and looked up into my eyes making me flinch. "Y-Your maj-" "Stop." I looked at her gently. "Stop what?" I asked trying to stay calm. "Paullina I am Victoria to you when we're alone so please call me that." Her voice sounded strained. "Victoria I was being honest about my thoughts on the marriage." Her eyes had a pain in her eyes as she put her hand on my jaw making my checks flush. "I don't believe you really think that." I keep the mask to my face. "But I do." I saw her trying to hold the tears back as she cupped my cheek and leaned in closer to me until our mouths were only inches away. "That's not true and I know it." I could feel her breath on my lips. "I know you." Our eye met a moment then the gap between us closed as she kissed me hard putting her arms around my neck.
I moved an arm around her waist kissing back shaking from the feeling of how close she was. "You don't like the idea at all do you?" she said against my lips and I shook my head slowly, and then she pulled away leaving my lips cold. "V-Victoria, put the kingdom first." Her eyes hovered on me. "I-I do" I took a deep breath. "Then say yes to the marige, it will help your kingdom be at peace." My eyes sharpened on her. "I know that but P- " "If you know it then do it." My voice was strict. "I-I can't..." She ran off turning around looking out the large window. "I can't do that to you." Her voice cracked a bit. "I couldn't possibly marry a man and let you go as you stand by my side as my guard." I shut my eyes tightly looking down. "Then I'll leave." She turned around immediately, I didn't look up at her, I couldn't. "No..." She reached a hand out and put it on my cheek but I pulled away. "I was meaning to leave soon anyways." My voice was low. "No." She put both her hand to my face forcing me to look up at her teary green eyes at the sadness on her face that made my heart break as I put my hand over hers. "You're the Queen, you need to be a Queen, your people need you to be one." I moved her hands down and stepped back. "P-P-Paullina...." Her voice shook as she tried not to break into sobs. "Please...." I felt tears in my own eyes now as I saw her shake. I quickly stepped to her placing my hand on her jaw my eyes gazing into hers. "Victoria you need to try and move on from me and do what your kingdom needs." She shook her head. "I don't care! I'd rather go to war tha-" "No, you won't do that because if you do I will be angry for you not doing your duties." She clinched her mouth shut. "Victoria..." I placed my forehead to hers. "I have to leave you." My voice shook as I kissed her head. "I'm sorry...." I turned around and walked out the door leaving her alone with her tears. "I love you.." I whispered as I walked to my room, and when my door shut behind me I went to a corner of the room, a dark corner, and sat down putting my head in my hands crying softly. I didn't want this I truly didn't but I had no choice this is for the good of our kingdom, the good of our people..... Peace.
