The man stared at me for a second, his head cocked to the side. His brows were furrowed into a worried expression. The silence lingered until, he finally broke it. "I'm going to get you a gauze for your leg; you're losing a bit of blood, he said, gruffly. I said nothing and pretended to be preoccupied looking at the bricks in the wall. I closed my eyes and let out a sigh. What the fuck would he do with me here? Sooner or later, people would start looking for me. Hopefully sooner. He came back down, gauze in hand. "Please don't touch me", I said, with a firmness to my tone. He said nothing in response and tossed the piece of gauze my way. I, surprisingly, caught it. My face must have shown my surprise for he began to chuckle. I rolled my eyes in response and wrapped the gauze around my leg. I looked up as our eyes met for a fraction of a second. I quickly looked down, avoiding his piercing gaze. "So why the hell am I here?" I said, giving up my shyness. He seemed taken aback by my sudden boldness. "That's a story for another time, pumpkin", he said, his eyes hardening as he did. I watched as he peeled himself off the hard mattress and ran back up the basement stairs. I limped up the stairs screaming:"WHY AM I HERE?" I kept banging on the door, my hands becoming more bruised by the second. I could feel the hot tears spilling over my checks, as I slid down against the cold metal door....
