Today, It was finally the day. The day I had counted down to. The day I stayed up all night (no pun intended) thinking about. The day of the One Direction concert, right here in Ohio.
Hi there, I'm Andrea Lee Birch. What an official, classy sounding name right? Because my name sounds so sophisticated, and I'm totally not, everybody calls me Andy. I'm 17 years old live in the beautiful, but sometimes boring, Buckeye state. I've got a pretty normal life, a mom, a dad, an older brother, and my adorable Siberian husky, Randy. I love photography and playing piano. And I am, and will always be a Directioner.
So, back to the concert, me and my four friends Alex, Jordan, Jacy and Rayna bought our tickets the very day they went on sale, and WOW were they expensive, we'd been saving up for months. We sat in the fourth row, still close enough to get great pictures and maybe even some eye contact with the handsome devils singing their hearts out 100 feet in front of us.
The week before the concert Alex, Jordan, Jacy, Rayna and I went shopping to find outfits for the concert. I decided on wearing a green and white striped flowing tank top, white shorts and some sandals. The concert started at 7 but we got there at 5:30. I have no idea why, but Alex said we HAD to get there early JUST IN CASE! But of course, its 6:45, we're walking into the arena and nothing happened outside. We found our seats and checked out our view. Can't get much better unless you want to be looking straight up their noses. (I've never been interested in sitting in the very first row anyway).
"ANDY!! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU FOUND THESE SEATS! They're so amazing!" Rayna squealed. I think she might actually explode when the boys come out on stage.
"My years of being a loner and mastering the Internet eventually payed off," I replied, way calmer than Rayna. I'm pretty good at staying chill in very exciting situations.
I looked around at the people sitting near us, oh gosh, a group of like 10 year old's. Right. In. Front. Of. Us. That's what sucks about the U.S., you don't get to see the good boy bands without a bunch of 4th graders there too. I was very tempted to ask if it was their bedtime yet, but I didn't.
"Okay, its 6:57. 3 minutes. 3 FLACKING MINUTES UNTIL ONE DIRECTION IS RIGHT IN OUR FACES!" said Jacy. I pulled out my camera. And suddenly, the lights went down, the entire arena began to chant "ONE DIRECTION, ONE DIRECTION." We joined in.
There was a flash of light, then suddenly, as if by magic, 5 gorgeous young lads appeared on the stage. The crowd erupted in screams.
"You're insecure, don't know what for, you're turning heads when you walk through the do-o-or"
We belted out the lyrics to "What Makes You Beautiful" as did everyone else in the room.
"That's what makes you beautiful."
As the ended the song, the screams still went on. I was clicking picture after picture of the boys on stage.
"HELL-O OHIO! How are all of you tonight?" Louis yelled into his mic. The crowd replied with a jumbled answer.
"We're so excited to be here tonight. We're so excited to be travelling all around the USA. Everyone is SO loud, it's great." Harry said, practically looking directly at our group.
"Enough talk now lads, this is a song I'm sure you all know, so everyone sing along, here's One Thing" Niall said before the song started to play.
After "I Want", and "Up All Night" The boys started to answer some twitter questions as they always do, and of course out of the million times I've tweeted them they didn't pick mine. Then after "I Wish", "Stole My Heart", "Save You Tonight" and "I Should've Kissed You" I thought it was over. Then, Liam came on the mic
"We're gonna do something we haven't really done before. I'm going to call out a random seat number, and whoever is in that seat gets to come up here and we'll sing you a little song," he smiled that smile that makes me melt inside. I made sure I didn't get my hopes up, there's like 10,000 other people in this stadium, there is no way they were going to pick me, especially with my luck.
"So without further ado..." Zayn pulls a small slip of paper out of his back pocket. "The lucky fan is, drumroll please.." the drummer starts to play a beat that can barely e heard over the anticipation of the crowd.
"Row D, Seat 7!" Zayn announced. I froze. I unfroze, I checked my seat number, I checked it again, and once more to be sure. It was me, NO WAY!
That was my seat. Row D, seat 7. My friends started freaking out, they pushed me toward the aisle. I awkwardly walked up to the section in front of the stage wear many, large security men steered me toward the steps. I walked up trying to keep myself from bursting into tears from excitement. I got up the stairs and walked over to where the boys were pointing at me, and tripped.
I fell. Flat on my face. In front of One FREAKING Direction. And 10,000 screaming fans, all wishing they were me.
