It was dark out, a little past 10pm.
The streets of Seoul were almost empty of people except for a few stragglers walking home from work.
You sat on the swing silently, kicking your feet and listening to the few cars drive by the park you were currently in.
You looked down at your feet as you thought about the phone call you received earlier, a phone call you never should have answered but did so anyways.
You couldnt get his voice or his words out of your head and it swam in your mind like an annoying fly.
His words were painful and it seemed to have caused a ball of lead to form in your heart, sinking it into the pit of your stomach..
You kicked the dirt beneath your feet, drowning in your own thoughts until you heard your name being called.
You looked up and saw the slim figure of your best friend, panting and staring at you intently.
"Hoseok?" You were surprised he was here and you were instantly concerned about his panting.
Did he run?
Hoseok walked up to you and smiled, his hair was pulled back in a red beanie, his ears poking out slightly and his cheeks were slightly flushed with a sheen of sweat on his forhead.
"I couldn't stop thinking about your ex calling you. I didn't want you to be by yourself."
You gaped at him, shocked that he was so concerned for your well being that he met you at a park that was far from his dorm, and in the dark no less
"Hoseok..." You whispered as you were suddenly touched by his caring act.
It was selfless and so...him.
"Don't listen to a thing he said." Hoseok stepped up to you and grabbed your hands. "You're amazing and absolutely beautiful."
You couldn't say a word as he held your hands, covering them with his large ones and warming them up. His eyes held such sincerity in them that you could nearly believe his words over the man who caused you such turmoil.
"Hoseok..." You smiled sadly as you stared down at your joined hands. "It's ok. I know I'm not that interesting and I definitely know I'm not that pretty. I accept it."
Hoseok didn't like what you were saying.
His brows furrowed as a look of pain was clear on his young face, it hurt him just hearing you say that.
Without another word, he pulled you into his body. You gasped as you collided into him and felt his arms wrap tightly around you.
You felt weak against him, and as much as you wanted to be strong, you just couldn't when you had Hoseok ready to support you.
He was that kind of man.
Ready to be there for you no matter what he had to do.
"I won't let you believe that." He whispered in your ear. "I won't let you believe something that isn't true.
You could feel the tears in your eyes as you listened to his words.
"That jerk doesn't know what the hell he's talking about."
You brought your hands up slowly and grabbed a handful of his shirt at his sides, you needed to hold onto him for your sanity.
"But.."
"You're absolutely gorgeous, y/n. He's completely blind if he cant see that." Hoseok whispered in your ear. He tightened his arms around you, hoping his words mean something to you.
"I don't know, Hoseok..." You spoke quietly. If you spoke any louder he would be able to hear your voice crack, and you didn't want him to hear or see you cry.
"I know. You're so beautiful y/n...I have a hard time concentrating on work because all I do is think about you." Hoseok stopped talking and seemed to hesitate before continuing. "I think about all the fun we have together and the conversations between the two of us and it has me wondering why I haven't told you I like you."
Your body stiffed at his confession.
You never knew Hoseok saw you in any other way other than a friend, it shocked you since this man was absolutely handsome and genuinely sweet. Why would he want someone who didn't match his visuals?
"You're my best friend..my feelings for you have grown over time and I don't think I can sit back and watch you destroy yourself over some stupid words a boy said to you." Hoseok spoke clearly as he rested his chin on your shoulder, he wanted to confess more, to tell you all of his thoughts so you can believe his words as truth instead of a bunch of lies.
"But Hoseok...why would you want to have feelings for someone like me?" The tears wouldn't stop as you held onto the only guy who mattered to you.
Hoseok was one in a million.
"What do you mean, 'like you'? If you mean someone who has stolen my heart, then of course I have feelings for someone like you."
The tears wouldn't stop falling as his sweet words wrapped around your heart, cradling it gently and making it race.
"Don't let me go." You mumbled.
Hoseok shook his head and kissed the side of your head.
"Never."
A few moments passed as you two stood there in the dark, your tears haven't stopped yet as you repeated his words over and over again and he didn't dare let you go.
But he pulled back and looked taken aback as he saw the tears running slowly down your cheeks.
Hoseok brought his hands up and cupped your face in his warm palms.
You closed your eyes as his thumbs wiped your tears away gently, the way he did it was so intimate that your face flushed at the gesture.
Hoseok lowered his head and let his lips graze yours.
"Why are you crying?" He murmured against your lips. "From now on, I'll take responsibility of all your tears.."
Without another word, you closed the gap and let your lips touch his.
