The Wretch & The Prince

I was a wretch in dirty clothes
He was a prince in majestic robe
But the class difference didn't stop Him
As He crossed the bridge just to get me

From heaven to Earth
That's how far He traveled
Only to end up broken hearted
By the one He ever wanted

Yeah you guessed it
When He came dressed as an ordinary man
I rejected, mocked, and persecuted him
Jeering at him as he suffered

But as blood flowed from the whip I hold
My filthiness were washed away
When I wounded him
I was healed from my disease

There he lay covered in blood
And here I stand as though a new creation
Looking at his pitiful state
I saw the greatness inside of him

I was dressed in fine clothes
But now I see it still is isn't enough
To cover up all my disgusting sins
And how worthless I feel I am inside

My soul is a wretch
I was imprisoned by my sin
But when he came forth
The sound of broken chains rung in my ears

And now I see
He became poor so I may be rich
He suffered so I may be free
He died to pay the price instead of me

Realization hit me hard
Tears streaming down my face
I knelt beside him
He gave me a faint smile

I looked deep into his eyes
A whirlpool of sadness and pity
But there's one thing there
I saw the love He has for you

You thought He's just nothing
So you turned your back
Unaware He's the King of kings
Who came to save your being

He dwells in the Heavens
His footstool is the Earth
Oh how great is Jesus
The God of Angel Armies

He is the One whom the angels admire
The One whom demons fear
Yeah, He is the Lord God Almighty
Who had his eyes set on you

You go on your busy day
And He waits for you all day long
Can you not see there's somone
Who loves you more than you'll ever know
