"Go to your room."
"But Mommy's not home yet."
"Go and get in that damn bed and don't get out unless Will gets here."
"Oh, Daddy, please tell Will not to come. I feel sick from last time."
"Will can come if he pleases and if you don't do what I say I'll burn another of those damn dolls."
"Oh, please Daddy —"
"— And if Will does show up you'll drink whatever he gives to you and you won't say a damn word unless he tells you to. Do you understand me?"
"..."
*screams*
*cries*
"Get in that bedroom or I'll black your other eye!"
"Daddy, when's Mommy coming home?"
"Delilah, I swear to God if you don't get in that room —"
"I'm going, Daddy, I'm going — no, please!"
Eleven Years Old
"Do you know what time my mom's getting home?"
"She's not coming home. She's not welcome here."
"What?"
"You heard me. Get in your room. The guys are coming over soon."
"Can I walk to Grandma's please? I hate being here when your friends are."
"No. The guys'll wanna see you today."
"..."
"But I need help with homework."
"Who cares?"
"Me. I'm trying to keep my grades up."
"Grades don't matter. You graduate, you get screwed over. Better to fail while you can and accept it. They make you too sure of yourself in school and then they dump you out and suddenly your stupid girlfriend's handing you a daughter and telling you you gotta get a job."
"I won't get pregnant straight out of high school."
"The hell you won't. If your mother did, ain't no doubt you will."
"I'll be smarter than that."
"Ha. Yeah, well see."
*bursting in*
"Ayyyy, Bobby!"
"What's going on, Jamie!"
"Dad, I'm going to Grandmas."
