Don't stress over
something you can't change.

"You're in my seat." Jace said looking directly at John.
I looked at John, to see he actually looked a little nervous. I couldn't help it, I bursted out laughing.
"Are you serious? We're not in third grade anymore, you know." I said looking at Jace incredulously.
He faltered for a moment. "Well do you actually want them sitting with you?" He said looking me in the eyes.
I looked away and mumbled to myself, "Well at least they aren't going to leave without saying anything."
When he didn't say anything I glanced at him and was surprised to see him looking hurt.
Just as he went to reply, Mr Dapple spoke,
"Mr Rofo should be here next time. Don't forget to look over your course outline. You are dismissed."
As he spoke I had shoved my book in my bag and by the time he had said the word 'dismissed', I was pulling the door open. I walked quickly down the hallway and speeded up when I heard Jace calling out my name. Once I pushed past the doors, I jogged quickly over to the dorms. Once I reached the dorms, I turned towards the car park and climbed on my bike. I put my key in the ignition and took off.
I got to work about ten minutes later. I parked my bike and headed through the café doors and walked straight to the toilets. I changed into my uniform and fixed my hair, pulling it into a bun.
Rose had informed me that she wouldn't be there on my first day, but she will have someone else inform me of what to do. And that the manager will be keeping an eye on me this week.
For the next forty minutes, I cleaned up out back, organising the shipment that was brought in this week. When I had finished that, one of my co-workers showed me where everything is at the front counter and while he took the orders, I prepared them.
"Hey, DJ? Do you mind taking the orders for a bit? I'm on my break." Anthony, my coworker asked me. He had been helping me out and showing me the ropes of this place.
"Sure." I say as he gives me a smile and walks out the back to do who knows what.
For the next ten minutes I was taking and serving orders.
"One flat white and large choc chip cookie."
"Thank you." The customer replied.
"Have a nice day." I said and sighed quietly as the customer took a seat.
I grabbed the cloth and wiped the counter and around the coffee and milkshake machines.
When I heard the bell ringing against the door, I looked up and mentally groaned.
He walked towards a table in the middle and sat down, looking around the room before looking down at a note pad he had in his hands and writing something down.
My attention was brought away from Jace and towards a female customer who asked for a latte with two sugars and slice of carrot cake to go.
I took the money and typed her order into the cash register and gave her the correct change and turned towards the coffee machine. I poured the coffee into a styrofoam cup and added her sugars and poured in the milk, feeling slightly proud as it left a pattern of a leaf on top. I glanced up to make sure there was no else in line to serve and placed the slice of cake into a paper bag and handed her order to her. I wiped the counter again just out of habit.
