Cher felt it, the heaviness and tension in the air as it grew. The communication between her and her group was not as clear anymore. She knew it wasn't completely broken as she could still hear her group's thoughts, but it wasn't as efficient as it was when the war first started.
'...person...telepathic...attacked...stop...' Was something transmitted before the air grew even more thicker.
Cher took in a deep breath and tried to interpret the message.
'Someone's been trying to wipe out our barrier system,' Cher thought to herself. 'But that someone must be strong because he wiped out so many in a matter of seconds.'
As she was thinking, she didn't notice an enemy creeping up behind her. Thankfully, she was scooped into the arms of Michael who carried her away from harm's way. When Michael set her down, she was speechless at first, the shock not yet settling in.
But when she saw his face, she scowled. "What was that for?"
"Someone was creeping on you!" Michael defended himself, raising his arms in surrender.
Cher felt guilty, and it showed on her face, but then a question popped up in her head.
"Why are you here?" She asked Michael. "Don't you have your own combat group?"
Michael smiled softly at her. "The short range combat group was victorious, so we were ordered to cone help the mid range and long range groups."
"Cher!" They heard Leigh-Anne shout in the distance. "Michael!"
Once again, Michael scooped Cher into his arms without warning her, darting off to meet up with Leigh-Anne.
"You've got to stop doing that!" Cher scolded Michael as he put her on the ground the second time that day.
"I'm sorry, Master," Michael said jokingly as he bowed slightly. He knows Cher hates it when him and the other servants call her that.
Cher only rolled her eyes, too tired to deal with Michael right now. Instead, she focused on Leigh-Anne who was flinging things at faraway enemies as she stood defensively in front of a very focused Calum and a passed out Jesy.
"Oh good, both of you are here," Leigh-Anne said, turning her attention to her two friends.
"What's up?" Michael asked Leigh-Anne.
"You guys probably heard that someone's been taking out all the telepathic people, right?" Leigh-Anne asked while flinging away something.
"Yeah, bits and parts of it," Cher replied.
"Well, Calum here might not seem like it, but he's holding up the whole mid range group by himself," Leigh-Anne said, gesturing to Calum. "The other telepathic people from the short range group are on their way, but until they come, we need to protect him."
"Sounds like a good plan," Michael said, ready to fight.
"But someone told me to pass a message to you, Cher," Leigh-Anne said, turning to face Cher. "So umm... Can you hold them up while I talk to her?" She asked as she now faced Michael.
