The day I met you, nothing extraordinary happened. It was probably one of the most mundane days in our town. Des Patisseries, the only decent café we have, is usually where the cool kids hang out. That day, which I remember distinctly to be a Monday morning, I craved a cappuccino. I'd barely slept because I had spent the entire night cramping for a chemistry test (which I flunked, by the way) because I had procrastinated like a madman. Caffeine was the only thing that would make me look even barely alive.

I entered the coffee shop, and I saw you sitting in my favourite spot; the seat that overlooked a pretty garden in the backyard of the café. I noticed with appreciation that you were quite good looking, with hair falling over your eyes in an almost devastating manner. And you were reading The Kite Runner, which is probably my favourite book of all time. I collected the cappuccino from the barista and somehow, gathered the courage to actually walk up to you. After all, how could I be dumb enough to let go of such a golden opportunity? A cute guy who has good taste in books- now that is a rare gem.

You probably heard my footsteps, looked up, and smiled. Ah OH MY FUCKING GOD, that smile is still the most enchanting thing I've ever seen. "Hey, The Kite Runner is an amazing book," I said shyly.

You nodded enthusiastically. "I know, and this is probably the hundredth time I'm reading this. Each time I read it, I keep finding hidden layers of character development and it honestly tears me up." He had an Indian accent.

I grinned widely. Oh my, this was perfect. "I know right? And Hassan is such a great character," I pulled up the seat opposite to you and we got so lost in conversation that time seemed to fly. I ended up missing my first two classes and got double detention, but it was definitely worth it. We exchanged Instagram IDs and promised to keep in touch.

The very next day at school, you turned up along with Landon Groves, one of the very few genuine friends I have.

"Hey Tanya, this is Ashton Khatri. He just came back from India and he'll be in our grade." Landon had said. We smiled at each other.

"Ah, I just met Ashton yesterday at Des Pattiseries. Welcome to Oakfield Preparatory School. It's a nightmare but you will survive."

"Thank you for the heads up Tanya. I'll be sure to look after myself. I've heard that high school can be vicious." He replied. "Now, I have physics for my first class. Can you show me where it is?"

"Sure," I said, all giddy. "I have that class too."

Back then, I had no idea that I would fall so deeply in love with you; a destructive kind of love that consumes my soul. That day, you seemed like a cool guy who I would love to know more but now, you are everything, Ashton. But you have no fucking clue.

But you have no fucking clue
