A few weeks pass and Katie has become best friends with Charles. They're almost inseparable. I have finally overcome the fear of driving and I take Charles to school whenever Tom has busy mornings and can't. After taking the kids to school, I sit at home working on my papers for this month at the bar when I get a call. I look over at it and it reads 'Nancy'. I press the answer button and put it on speaker. "Hello." I can hear her smiling, "Good morning, Miss Meghan. How is everything?" I smile, "Pretty good. Just a little paperwork for my boss. How about you?" "I'm doing just fine. Thanks for asking." I stop writing to get up and grab a water bottle from the refrigerator, "What can I help you with today, Miss Nancy?" I hear her type, "Well... I was looking over Katie's files and I believe that is time to update her adoption plan." I take a sip of water, "Okay. When can we do that?"

She clicks her tongue thinking. Possibly looking at a calendar, "How about Wednesday at 2?" I smile, "That'll work." "Okay. See you then. Have a good day." "You too. Bye!" I hang up the phone.

I have know Nacy for 7 years now. I came to her about the foster parenting/adoption ordeal and she's been more than kind to me these past few years. I've fostered a little boy since Katie. Luckily, he got adopted by a nice and loving couple. Katie is the only one that I've adopted and I hope to adopt more but I plan on being married before then.

After I finish my paperwork, I go for a simple jog around the block. When I get back, I've noticed I have a voicemail. Seriously? I was only gone for 15 minutes. I check them. "Hey, sweetie. It's mom. Just wanted to know if you needed anything while I'm at the store picking up presents for Katie. Call me. Love you!" Katie's birthday is in two weeks and my mom absolutely loves spoiling her. My mom has always been about spoiling her grandkids.

As soon as I take a sip of water, my home phone rings. I wait for it to announce the name. "Ryan." My brother. I pick up the home phone from the wall. "You do know I have a cell phone right?" "Yea but I thought that it would be busy since its a week day." "Not so much. Nancy just called to update some papers. What's up?" I ask. "I wanted to ask what Katie doesn't have that she would like." I laugh. "What's so funny?" "Mom just called and asked me if I needed anything while she was picking up presents for Katie." "Oh! Well, what does she not have that she wants?" I look at the list she made me. "She has 'cute pillows' on here. That would be simple. I've already bought her most of the stuff." I can tell he's put me on speaker now. "What all does she want?" "It's a lot but it's just simple stuff. Movies for the movie room. Hello Kitty bed sheets. Paint. That kind of stuff." "Okay. Will you call mom and ask her what she's getting her?" "Yea. I guess so." "Okay. Thanks, Meghan. Love you!" "Love you too! Bye."

I dial mom's number and chat with her to get the info that Ryan wanted and then call him back to tell him. Inspiration hits me and I go on Pinterest and look up ways to redecorate Katie's room. Lights on the wall. Wall stickers. Simple ways to organize. After I write down all the ideas, I just scroll through Pinterest. Under wallpapers for my phone. DIY's. Then celebrities. What can I say? I'm 31. I like being interest in what's going on. Under celebrities, I see your typical men celebrities. Ryan Gosling. Brad Pitt. Tim McGraw. Then a familiar face comes across the screen. Tom Hiddleston. I look at the article and see that he played Loki in the Thor series and Avengers. I thought he looked familiar.

When the clock hits 2, I wait outside for the bus and see that Tom is already waiting at the bus stop. I walk over to him, "Hi!" I smile. "Oh hey, Meghan! How are you today?" I nod slowly, "Pretty content. Yourself?" He widens his eyes, "Busy." "Do you have any plans two weeks from now?" I ask him. "I don't think so. Why? Asking me out on a date?" He smiles. I shrug, "Unless you count a 6 year old girl's birthday party a date." "Oh! Katie's birthday?" I nod. "I'd love to come. Although, I should tell you that my sister is coming back and picking up Charles tomorrow." I think, "If she thinks that it won't be too weird, she can come. The more the merrier, right?" He smiles and nods, "Right. Okay. I'll let her know. Thank you." "You're welcome."
