Art: don't mess with me

‘What’s your next lesson,’ Kristen asked me. We were both walking upstairs to the south block of the school.

‘Art, yours?’

‘I have cooking, I’ll see you later on,’ Kristen departed into the food tech room and I carried on walking through the long corridors that led to the art department. In Osborne High, art was a neglected subject, only free spirited people actually considered to do it. I checked my letter, my art room was 24A, I walked straight towards the door that had the number 24 sprayed on with neon pink colours. I checked my phone, I was already five minutes late for the lesson, I hope the teacher doesn’t mind.

I twisted the door knob and peaked my head through the door, sitting there with her legs across the table was my idol, Miss Stewart. Her face moved to look at mine, her red lips were now spread across her face, and she gave me the most mischievous smile that I have ever seen.

‘Adrianna’

‘Miss Stewart,’ I walked over to her and handed in my letter to show proof that I was in this time wasting lesson.  She signed the letter and pointed towards a seat, I followed her finger and it landed at a seat which was next to Lawson’s. As I looked around, all of the delinquents were here, Archer, Skyler and Franco. I was having a lesson with them four and just them four.

‘Are you serious?’  A smile reached Lawson’s face; he looked back at Franco who also smiled.

‘What’s wrong?’  Miss Stewart asked, you could smell yesterday’s alcohol lingering on her breath.

‘I’m not going to sit with these low lives.’ Lawson’s face was now tense, did he actually think I’ll go along and sit with him.

‘I don’t care where you sit; I just want to go to sleep.’ Miss Stewart slid off the table and slumped her body onto her chair.’ Now be quiet.’  I missed Miss Stewart she had gone to jail for drug possession in school, the past few years had been boring without her.

‘You heard her be quiet and don’t speak to me unless I speak to you.’ I dropped down on the seat that was furthest away from the boys and opened up the book Hunger games. I was flipping through the pages until a splodge of pink paint was flung across my white jeans. I dropped my book in my lap and gave daggers to the boys. They stopped playing with the paint and stared at me, their faces pale white. It looked like they had seen a ghost, but I was worse then a ghost.

‘Who did it?’ They all pointed at Archer, who had a smug look on his face, not for long though.

‘Archer, are you going to apologise or am I going to have to make you.’ He was completely silent, there was no tries for words to escape his mouth instead there was his eyes that darkened in frustration.

He finally spoke,’ Make me.’

When was this boy going to learn, you never mess with a bitch unless you want attention or you want to fuck one. I got off from my chair and grabbed his bag that was lying across the floor. I picked it up and rummaged through it looking for his English book. We had just done an essay for English which was twelve pages and we were told to hand it in next lesson, but I don’t think Archer was going to do that now. I smirked at his face as I pulled out his essay from his bag. I was floating it over his face trying to provoke him however he was still with the same position.

‘Your top of the class I hear,’ I tear a small rip in the corner of Archers work, his eyes were glued on my hands, didn’t he think I’ll do it.

‘Archer, not speaking isn’t going to save your work; you just have to say sorry.’ He wasn’t budging; I know tearing up someone’s hard work was a bitch move however I didn’t give a fuck, he stained my white jeans.

‘It’s just paint Adrianna,’ Skyler was now defending his bro’s side, how miserable, it shows how week men were.

‘Say sorry,’ my voice was getting louder each word I said.

‘No,’ Archer stood up from his seat and stepped forward, so are faces were only an inch away, if he thinks that this was going to threaten me then he’s wrong.

‘I’m so scared,’ I said sarcastically. This made Archers nose flare, I really was able to get under his skin.

‘It’s just paint, hand over my work.’ He moved his hand forward to get his work but I moved mine back.  I never back down in a fight and I always get my way.

‘Say sorry,’ I was speaking with my teeth clenched; Archer really made my blood boil. In my sixteen years of life, I have never met someone who never listened to me.

‘No,’ Archer repeated fumingly. I wasn’t going to give him another chance; I have no reason for even considering giving him the other chance last time, but this was the last straw.

‘You had it coming for you,’ I tarred up the sheets with my dainty hands until they were little pieces so that I could throw on Archer for congratulations for not listening to me confetti.  His chest was pumping and his hands were clenching, I never seen Archer like this before. I’ve never witnessed someone who was about to rip of his shirt like incredible hulk and murder me cold blooded.

‘I did warn you.’ Those three words made Archer snap, he lunged forward for me, before he could harm me, his friends grabbed him and pulled him back, tackling him on to the floor. I watched as they all tried to control a wild Archer not to hit me.

‘Look what you did, don’t you feel bad that you ripped his work up that he has being doing for months, so he could go to college.’ The smirk that was on my face dimmed down from Franco’s words. If Archer didn’t get into college then it would be my entire fault.

‘He should have said sorry to me, even Steven Hawking can say it, it’s not my problem.’

The lesson was about to end, I grabbed my bags and walked out of the classroom, the satisfaction from what happened just now was over powering. This was such a ‘you go girl’ moment, however I had no one to share it with unless you count the geeks who were huddling around their lockers, paging their friends about the pi song. I was making my way outside however I could hear someone shouting my name.

‘Adrianna wait up,’ I looked back and saw a fiery red blur dashing towards me.

‘Oh hey Jess, what’s up?’

‘Nothing much, I wanted to say thank you properly for what you did today, I really appreciate it.’

‘No worries your ex was douche bag and all douche bags need a good slushy on their faces.’ We both laughed at my comment, I could see me and Jess being good friends. I never let red headed freaks into my friendship group, so this would be the first.

‘What are you doing now?’

‘Sleeping, that’s what I’m going to do Jess. Oh yeah I ticked off your brother Archer, he really needs to learn how to say sorry. What’s does your mother teach him, silence and uncomfortably staring at people. ‘I laughed but Jess didn’t instead she had a serious face.

‘I got to go Adrianna.’ In a few seconds she ran off, she looked like that superhero Flash because of her red hair. From now on I was going to call her ‘flash’, the name Jess is a horse’s name, who calls their kid that.  But I wonder what the hurry was, I ripped up his college essay, what’s the big deal, he can right another one. This could get him of the streets and make him get out of trouble, I was helping him.
