If I had to point out one thing that every single killer has in common, is motive.
Otherwise there would be no reason to kill, and whether it be for pleasure, love or revenge there's always motive.
Always.
And once you find the motive, the link between the victims is evident.
Or rather, once you find the link, you can understand the motive. And THAT is why you can almost always be guaranteed in catching the killer.
It's just that figuring out the motive or the link is the hardest part of a murder mystery.
And at times, it can almost be impossible to find.
