His hazel eyes met mine. I stared at his face for a few seconds before I apologized again. As soon as I realized I was on top of him, I jumped on my feet.

"I'm so sorry ! I must've been a bit tired. I just arrived in a Tokyo..." I apologized.

"It's okay."

The guy got up and offered me his hand.

"The name's Phichit Chulanont. You can make it up to me by going with me for a coffee !"

I nodded. I couldn't help but go with him. I owed him that, since I literally fell on top of him.

We went to the nearest coffee shop. The lights were all dimmed, creating an intimate kind of ambiance. We sat at a small, round table in a corner.

I ordered a latte since I didn't like the bitterness of black coffee. Phichit ordered some special coffee I hadn't heard of before.

I laughed nervously. We hadn't exchanged a word since we got here.

"So, tell me, what's your name ? And what brings you to Tokyo ?" Phichit asked me.

"Well, m-my name is Yuuri Katsuki. I'm a hairstylist and I'm in Tokyo because I want to expand my professional horizons. I'm from a small town called Hasetsu," I explained.

"So Katsuki-san, you basically work in the Fashion Industry ? How nice ! I'm a makeup artist. I work with brands during photo shoots and runway shows. I live in Tokyo but I travel a lot. Earlier, you said you had just arrived ?"

"Yes. I'm staying at the Tokyo Lotus until I find a job and an apartment."

"Do you know anyone in Tokyo ? Do you have a cousin or something ?"

"No..."

I sighed. I hadn't been there for long but simply knowing I'd have to be alone for a while... I didn't like it.

Being alone wasn't a thing I particularly enjoyed. Most people don't.

I could still talk to my parents on the phone but it wouldn't be the same as talking face to face. Our order arrived.

I needed to find work.

"I don't have a cousin or anything like that.

"Let's exchange phone numbers !" he exclamed.

He handed me his phone and I typed my number quickly.

"Here." I gave him mine.

"I'm gonna ask around to see if I can find a job for you. If anything comes up, I'll call you."

"Thanks but...I don't understand. We just met. Why are you being so nice to me ?"

"Because I want us to be friends. I think you're a nice guy and I want to know you better. I know how it's like to be new in this town and I want to help you out."

I smiled warmly despite being very tired.

"Thank you so much ! And sorry about earlier. I don't know how can I repay you for everything..." I murmured.

"Don't worry about that ! We can just take a selfie. To make our friendship official." He took a sip of his drink. It had a caramel-like color.

I agreed to what he asked. I tried my best not to look tired but it was very difficult. My eyes were puffy and my hair was disheveled.

I walked back to the hotel. I kept my head down as I advanced steadily in the busy streets.
:
When I arrived in my room, I collapsed on the bed and closed my eyes.

I did my very best today. I had no energy left.

Tomorrow, I'd have to find a job. No matter that Phichit guy, I had to do what I could.

I had no other option but to rely on myself. I was glad I made a friend but we weren't very close yet.

I sighed and fell asleep.
