Before I fell in love

It wasn't like I had meant for this to happen. I hadn't know that I would fall in love. I didn't want my heart to beat for him but it did. I didn't know that I would meet my soul mate. But I did. Let's rewind to before my love story began.

It was the summer between my Sophomore and Jr. year of high school. At this point in my life I was the opposite of a romantic. I didn't really believe in love. Didn't want kids. Didn't really have crushes on people. I didn't want roses and chocolates. I had never been on a date, although I was asked multiple times. I was terrible at reading other people. And just genuinely sucked at anything that had to do with romance. But that changed.

It was early that summer that I got a job at a concession stand at the beach. In the beginning to me it was just a job and I didn't particularly like most of my co-workers. And I at the time had no clue how much like family they would become to me.

After about a month of working there my manager Jen said that her son was going to start the following Monday.

When Monday came around I saw him for the first time. And unlike in the movies I didn't know right then I loved him. He didn't knock me off my feet the moment I saw him. We had been so busy all day I never even had time to learn his name and at the time didn't really care. It wasn't until the next weekend when we worked together again that I got to know him.

That Saturday when we worked together Jen introduced us.
"Ryne, this is Hailey. Hailey this is my son Ryne."
We smiled at each other and his mom continued to explain how went to the same school and so on.
That night was pretty slow, so Ryne and I talked quite a bit.

When I got off and was walking to my car Ryne ran up next me. He explained that his mom wanted him to walk me to my car (she did this everyone).

We worked together a few times after that and noting really happened.

But it was one Saturday that we worked together when that changed. I had been sweeping outside and when I came inside was complaining I was cold.
"He is going to make me go back out there and sweep and I am freezing!"
And being the perfect person he is Ryne replied,
"Well I have a jacket over there that you can use if you want to."
And it was in this moment that I realized that I had feelings for this amazing guy in-front of me. But I was shy and of course didn't act on them.
