Every night she sleeps without nightmare. People like Emma, a person that had experienced being bully for almost 30 years tends to have bad dreams as a shadow of her trauma. But, she does fine with sleeping. She still heard voices on her head about issue that beyond her power.

"A lot of victim, BLEEDING and SCARE about situation. There is no life for them."

Emma could not talk, she remembered the time of Journalism in Indonesia, there is no freedom to write about true issue at that time.

Journalism in Indonesia began from ANTARA news office on 1937. Antara was the key to broadcast Indonesia's independence. (Kompasiana)

PROCLAMATION

WE THE PEOPLE OF INDONESIA HEREBY DECLARE THE INDEPENDENCE OF

INDONESIA. MATTERS WHICH CONCERN THE TRANSFER OF POWER AND

SOEKARNO/HATTA

Soekarno was the first President in Indonesia. He brought the Parliamentary system to Indonesia country, and manage all the cabinets from the early steps.

Hatta was the Vice President.

New era (1959-1998) was the beginning of Freedom to express and write about news and political situation. Today, Indonesia journalism is moving very fast. CNN Indonesia is now live on media, local news is among it.

Emma join the forum of journalism in TEMPO INDONESIA, Palmerah Barat 8, West Jakarta, 11480. To know more about writing, and she listen carefully what mentor said about journalism in Indonesia.

"When I was a young reporter, at that time there are no internet, uber or laptop. But the today news could be used for tomorrow news. There are benefit between was and now."

"How you type the news if there is no laptop?" asked one of student.

"I use type machine or fax machine."

"Do you prefer the freedom journalism or the opposite?"

"I think today news is more challenging than yesterday. There are a lot of platform to share news."

"Why the freedom of press should be closed in our country long time ago?"

"It depends, the information could lead people to react with riot. Government want to keep everybody feel safe with great information."

Emma heard about that, all she wondered is her career on journalism always find difficulties. She knows that a writer could get many rejections. Started from novels that she wrote, articles, blogs and many unpublished works. This is the journey of her career to get Pulitzer award.

She does research a lot. It makes her more capable in writing.

Between Emma class, she still hears voices about a lot of issue.

"STUPID, DON'T HEAR ANYTHING FROM THEM!"

"YOU ARE BULLIED AND YELLED UNTIL YOU ARE BECOME CRAZY."
