Roland was doing a pretty good job at blending in. The gala was flooding with the rich. As he walked through the crowd, he communicated with West with the receiver in his right ear. His tux was damn good on him.
Yes, he's got the looks and everything, making women look his way. His gaze fell on Ryder Wheels, he was talking to his bodyguard.
"I got eyes on Wheels", he said under his breath to Lennie. "Good, man, I have people spying on him. You, have fun. Mingle", West said.
Roland shrugged, his eyes roaming through the crowd, he sipped from a champagne flute, then he sighted the woman of his thoughts.

"I hate this evenings", Mitchie said to Troy, who was listening to her half hearted
"They make me want to run around naked, screaming. Can you imagine that?"
"I think that would be a pretty good sight I wouldn't want to miss", a guy said to her. She eyed him, looking at him, dead in the eye. OK, he was attractive... Yeah baby, he sure was, she thought as her eyes roamed from his face down to every inch of him.
"I don't believe I was talking to you", she said coyly, signaling for another glass of champagne from a waiter, sulking when she saw her father and the call girl sitting at table one with Gladys and her husband, talking to some major celebrities.
"Easy lady... It's not water, you know", amusement highly evident in his voice.
She wished she hadn't come, maybe feigning sickness wasn't a bad idea. Getting smashed was the only way to survive this night or if this stranger wasn't too boring, she thought as she downed another gulp.
"You're not concerned about me, are you?", she asked and sulk ed when George kissed Stacie.
"Course I am... I tend to have weaknesses for damsels in distress", he said, smirking.
"I wasn't in distress, I'm just not in a good mood", she bit back.
He chuckled, "You're hot when snap like that".
"Do you expect me to fall for that?", she asked dryly, holding back a smile.
"It's worth a shot, don't you think?"
She smiled, "You sound interesting"
"I'm a pretty interesting guy".
"I'm Mitchie Parrish by the way. You are?", she asked, fully turning to him.
He contemplated telling her his real name. Heck, to hell with it, "Roland Golden and it's nice to meet you".
"Same here", she said, turning away from him,"These nights tend to bore me out".
And they got to talking.

George observed Stacie with the way she mixed freely with other people. She actually knew how to handle herself perfectly.
It would be really good to be married to a woman like Stacie. He was too old to be getting laid, he felt like it needed to end. A woman to keep him company in and out of bed will suit him perfectly, he thought. The thought of marriage hadn't occurred to him since Clary, Mitchie and David's mother died.
But he'd waited so long, right?
Now was another chance for him and Stacie it was.

It was a really long night. Speeches, performances and so on. Reporters whirred, taking shots here and there. Roland watched Ryder for some time and reported back to Lennie for sometime, them he turned his full attention to Mitchie, asking her to dance. He couldn't really get anything from her. She was so...... reserved. She always knew when he was trying to pry into her thoughts. He then made up his mind that he liked her. Heck, she was headstrong, to people, she might look vulnerable. He liked the way she talked, her fierceness...
To Mitchie, he was hot, funny and gorgeous. But what puzzled her was that he asked her really personal questions, she evaded them much to his and her amazement. She was glad he got the hint that she didn't want to talk about them. He was smart and she liked that.
Later on, when the reporters began to leave and the celebrities began to think out, she knew she had to go.
"I really have to go. Duty calls", she said.
"Figured. OK then",he answered, shrugging.
"Twas nice talking to you, thanks ", she said, moving back a little.
He nodded, giving her a hint of a smile.
" Sayonnara, friend", she said, smiling and turned to go,leaving Roland in a daze. He was amazing, she thought. Her cellphone buzzed. Troy was calling, she had to go tidy things up.
