Mel's POV
Ring...Ring...Ring..
"Aarrggghhh Mel! Answer your damn phone... people are trying to sleep here"complained a sleeping Shay.
Who would've called this early to disturb my beauty sleep. Groaning, I pull out my phone without even looking at the caller ID and answered"Hello?"
"It's about time you answered, I'm just reminding you that it's Saturday and I'm dropping Ivan at your place in an hour."said Jimmy on the other end of the line.
Oh fudge! I totally forgot bout it. Damn me for drinking too much yesterday. "Uhh yes, of course. I'll be here waiting for him, just drop him off."
"Ok we'll see you soon, bye sis"
"Bye"I said and the line went silent."Guys! Guys! Get your freakin asses up. Jimmy's on his way to leave his son with me. Y'all better get up so I can clean the place........ Shaaayyy! Get your lazy ass up right now or I swear I will pour water on you"I warned.
Groan after groan from my two friends. After coming back from the club yesterday, Lolo went home while Shay followed me and Ryan back to my apartment.
We slept in the living room since we were all wasted and can barely move our bodies to the room.
"Hurry up guys, I don't want Jimmy knowing that I've been drinking my ass out yesterday. You two's can go rest your stupid asses in the room while I'll clean this place, fix myself and get ready before he shows up."I said, moving back and foward tidying the place.
By the time my doorbell rang, I was already cleaned up. Opening the door I greet my cousin and his son," Hey guys, come on in."
"Waunty Meeellllll"says a three year old Ivan as he rush to give me a hug. "Hey buddy, you miss me?"I asked while hugging him. He nodded his head with a pout on his adorable face and I smiled. He looks just like his dad but has his mom's chocolate hair and bright blue eyes.
Jimmy chuckled and I turn to him smiling," Thanks for bringing him over bro, I could use a little rebel in here for a while and you can go get ready for that date."I tell him.
Jimmy lost the mother of his children when Leah was born.
She gave birth to Leah and couldn't survive afterwards due to the state she was in making her lose too much blood. The doctors couldn't save her but luckily Leah was born healthy. Jimmy had to go through the hard time raising both kids at the same time. He promised himself he wouldn't get married after the love of his life but sadly his wife wouldn't agree to it.
Before she passed away, she left a letter for Jimmy knowing she couldn't survive after giving birth. She wanted Jimmy to move on for the sake of their kids and do it for her.
It was sad hearing this for Jimmy but he knew no matter what, he will always do what his love had requested him to do.
So after a year and some months, Jimmy decided to move on and fulfill his wife's dying wish. He met a woman a month ago and they've been dating for a while now. Seeing him happy makes me proud of him for being strong and independent.
Jimmy's voice took me out of my trance," So how are you sis?"he asked.
Smiling, I replied"I've been great, mom texted me last week. She's asking if I'd visit her and dad this Christmas but I haven't decided yet."
"Well I know you've always busy working and all, but Mel, you have to visit them soon. They've missed you so much and you can't stay away from them that long."he said and gave me a warming smile.
"I know, I know. I promise I'll try visit this Christmas. You don't need to worry, bro." I promised and he nodded.
After talking with Jimmy, he left for his date.
An hour later, I left the apartment with Ivan to the park. Sitting on the bench, I waited for him while listening to some music.
It was a beautiful day. Warm breeze touched my skin and I got carried away, lost in the music, humming while closing my eyes. Till I felt a presence in front of me, blocking the sunlight from my face.
Opening my eyes, I see two honey colored eyes staring down at me. I was lost in daze staring at him till his lips caught my attention. It was moving but I couldn't get what he was saying.
Removing my earpiece, I asked.
"Pardon?""I said, were you sunbathing out here or something?"he said with a smile showing his perfect little dimples on his face.
Realization hit me as I saw my own sitting style on the bench. It really looked like I was sunbathing but fully clothed. Embarrassed by my own action, I cleared my throat and replied,"Of course not, I was just enjoying the weather out here."
"Oh I see, so what brings you out here?"he asked and set beside me.
I pointed to Ivan on the swing, and answered,"This little man over there.""He yours?"he asked again looking at me. "Who Ivan? No...*chuckles* of course not. He's my nephew, I always take him out here every Saturday. So here I am." I said, smiling at the thought of bringing Ivan here every weekend's.
"What about you? What brings you here?" I asked him back. He turned to look at me and answered," I was jogging with my friend till I came across you."
"Where's your friend?"
"Oh she's somewhere around here, but I'm not sure which way she went." Oh, it's a she I thought to myself with a little frown on my face. "Oh okay, that's nice."I said.We talked and laugh. It was a normal conversation, I really enjoyed his company. We were walking on the footpath, talking till he said something and I froze,"Oh, there she is."
He was pointing behind me and smiled, I turned my head slowly to see who he was talking about but something towered me and pushed me backwards making me fall, lying on my back. Next thing I know, my face was showered with sticky liquid.Someone's laughter pulled me out of my shocking state. I pushed the dog away from my face and wiped my face. Jeckham offered me his hand to help me up and I accept. He was still laughing and I glare at him.
When he calm down from his laughter he said,"I believe, you have just met my friend."
"The dog is your friend? The one you were jogging with?" I asked, while wiping the dirt off my jean.
"Yep"he said popping the p in the end. "This is Bubbles" patting the dog while it was wagging its tail.
Now that is one hell of a dog, I thought. It's almost the size of myself, no wonder it has strong force that pushed me hard to the ground.
"Bubbles, why don't you shake hands with Mel over here"he said and the dog obeyed an stick it's paw out to me for a handshake. I put my hand out and shook it's paw," Hello, it's nice to meet you." I smiled when it licked my face for the second time.
After meeting Jeckham's dog, we took Ivan for an ice cream. By the time he finishes his ice cream, he fell asleep and I had to carry him back to the apartment since it wasn't far from the park but Jeckham insist he'd help me carry Ivan back.
Finally back in the apartment, I tucked Ivan in bed and walk out to thank Jeckham in the living room.
"No problem, I'm glad I could help" he said and smiled at me and I smiled back. "Well can I at least get you anything before you leave?"I offered but he shook his head. "No thanks, Mel. I'm fine. I have to get Bubbles back to my place so she can have her bath."I nodded my head and walk him towards the door. Saying goodbye the last time, he walked out.
Sighing, I closed the door and walk back into the living room. Never know I'd be really tired in the end of the day. Lying down on my couch, I smile at the event that took place today. Bumping into Jeckham was a shock but it was amazing too.
My day was spent well at the park with the famous footballer and I enjoyed it, I thought again. A smile plastered on my face as I'm drifted off to Lalaland.
