"ash, wake up."
"mmph..."
ash mumbled against his pillow, face flat against the soft white material as clemont continuously attempted to get the other to wake up through gentle shakes and "wake-up"s. it was quite early in the morning, and the group had decided to get up earlier than usual the previous night in order to get to coumarine city by early evening.
clemont wanted to get up to cook breakfast. as his bunnelby and chespin watched the food cooking outside, their trainer was inside the tent, wanting to start waking his ( secretive ) boyfriend up.
"ash, come on," clemont said, shaking the boy again. ash's pikachu was now awake, and it too was attempting to wake up the ravenette teen through shakes and indignant squeaks. "aaash."
"i don't want to wake up," ash said, moving his head so that his cheek lay flat against his pillow. his sleepy brown-colored eyes looked up to clemont. "wake up serena and bonnie first."
"you know well why i'm not doing that," clemont reminded the other. "i'm not about to invade the girls' privacy."
"then why are you waking meeeee?"
"because we all agreed to get going earlier than usual."
ash groaned and closed his eyes, pikachu huffing with frustration. "darn it."
"come on," clemont urged, voice laced with amusement at his boyfriend's motives. "you get to have the first bite of breakfast. chespin and bunnelby are watching it right now, and i need to go finish cooking. get dressed, alright?"
"okay, okay," ash said. "i will — promise."
"thank you," clemont smiled. he leaned down and planted a small kiss on the other's forehand, and he chuckled with amusement as ash's cheeks flared up.
the blonde got up and exited the boys' tent, then made his way over to his mini kitchen. there, bunnelby was carefully placing each layer of food onto a piece of triangular-shaped bread, which was a bit crookedly-cut. meanwhile, chespin was attempting to cut the crusts off another triangular slice of bread, which was looking similar to the one bunnelby was using.
"great job, guys," clemont said, trying not to let the crookedness of chespin's cutting get to him. the normal-type and grass-type both chirped happily, glad that their trainer liked their hard work. clemont smiled before pulling out luxray's poké ball and releasing the massive lynx pokémon.
after cooking a little more, breakfast was complete. clemont prepared the dishes for everyone, and while he did so, he heard his and ash's tent open. the boy looked over to see a still-tired ash emerge from their sleeping quarters, pikachu bolting past his feet to greet clemont's pokémon. the gym leader watched the pokémon before he looked over to ash, who was making his way to the stream close by.
"finally decided to get up?" the blonde asked with amusement as ash splashed the clear water onto his face.
"heh, yeah, i guess," was ash's response. the boy mopped the excess water off of his face and fixed his red cap. he stood straight and walked over to where clemont was. "as much as i didn't want to, pikachu threatened to thunderbolt me if i didn't." clemont laughed at this remark, glancing down at the yellow-furred mouse pokémon.
"well, if you got shocked, then it would've been your own fault," clemont teased before looking past ash's head and towards the sunrise, which was pale yellow against the still slightly-dark sky. the stars were beginning to fade, although they still looked somewhat visible.
ash followed clemont's eyes and looked up at the sky. "the sunrise is pretty," he commented.
"yeah..." clemont said dreamily, still looking near where the sun's rays were beginning to show. he swore he managed to catch a glimpse of venus.
"the stars are pretty too," ash said before looking back at clemont. "but y'know, i've seen prettier things."
clemont's face heated up a bit, him knowing what the other was talking about. he and ash's locked eyes for a moment before ash hurriedly looked away, rubbing the back of his neck embarrassingly.
"heh... that was kind of cheesy," he said, averting his brown eyes from clemont's bright blue ones. "b-but, it's true..."
clemont laughed and walked over to the other. "well, i think it sounded pretty cute," he commented. ash's face grew warm, and a faint red tint showed it. he looked back up at clemont, and the two locked eyes once more before clemont closed the space between them, placing a kiss on the other's lips.
their kiss only last for a few seconds before a familiar voice said shrilly, "i smell something good!" in surprise, ash and clemont practically leaped away from one another, snapping out of their dazes. the two boys looked over to see their female companions — bonnie and serena — stepping out of their tent, dressed and ready to go.
"what are you two doing?" serena asked obliviously with a giggle. "did bonnie scare you?"
"u-uh, kind of," ash responded, blush finally fading. "i didn't realize that you guys would g-get up so soon."
"well, that's what we agreed on doing, isn't it?" serena asked curiously. "any who, i'm starving, and that food looks delicious, clemont!"
"o-oh! thanks, serena," clemont said with a crooked smile. "i promised ash that he could have the first bite if he got up, though." ash chuckled softly as him and the other made their way over to the others.
as promised, ash got to pick first, and pikachu as well. the group ate, and then packed their things before heading out to coumarine city.
and as usual, ash and clemont were the ones to walk together, hands brushing one another as bonnie babbled on about how excited she was to arrive at their next destination.
