Locker doors slamming shut, teenagers around me talking over the top of their lungs. Really unnecessary. Nothing better than the first day of a new school year. Of course everything's better when school's out. I'm starting to miss the holidays. Last Christmas, hanging out till late night with my best friend, Jaxon Reed, just because my parents were away for a "business meeting" for their company. Oh, and not to mention, Halloween too was such a memorable experience. I've never been to a haunted house for quite a while. It was great to feel an adrenaline rush again.

Pardon me, I have yet to introduce myself. I'm just a simple Elyssa Carson, close friends prefer calling me 'Liss', it is much shorter and simpler that way. Who am I exactly? Well, let's just say I'm just a typical high school girl, yet to accomplish a goal in life. So far yet so close. I think I better let you read to get hyped up to know what's my story.

"Right, Interactive Lesson with Homeroom Teacher is... First period, and it's in block D, fourth floor," I said to myself, opening my locker door. I sighed. GOD DAMN IT, fourth floor for homeroom? I guess this is my karma for eating way too much of Nona's tuna casserole for New Year's Eve dinner reunion.

"Is Ms. Carson alone this time?" I heard a familiar voice coming from behind me.

I turned around. Of course, it's none other than Jaxon Reed. Jaxon's (or Jax, I like to call him) a little brunette boy, not literally. It's just that he has a cute and innocent face with messy hair and black pupils that you could get yourself lost in.

"Geez, do you ever say 'Pardon' before interrupting one's conversation with herself?" I replied with a small laugh.

"Yeah... They don't teach good manners and polite etiquette to the people of Jaxonville, especially towards citizens of Lissington City." He added jokingly.

"Ha. Ha. Very funny."

"'Ha. Ha.' considers as a laugh, so I'm guessing you laughed because it's funny."

I shot him a look and giggled. Boy, do I miss the times I used to hang around with Jaxon with a carefree attitude. It was always just Jaxon and Liss dominating the world, conquering the universe one day. Fantasies we used to have as children, he was my closest friend since then.

"Anyways, hang with me after school?" He broke me from my thoughts.

"Yeah, sure. I don't seem to have anything going on after scho--"

I was interrupted by a ear-deafening screams coming from the end of the hallway. Figures, it was a bunch of cheerleaders. What are they all awestruck about? Just as the lunatic cheerleaders stopped screaming and murdering everyone's eardrums, they moved to the sides of the hallway. I could see someone walking in between them. Kind of tall, maybe 5 foot 8 inches tall? Every single one of the cheerleaders were drooling over him. What a grand entrance.

As the figure approached nearer and nearer to reveal his identity, I should've guessed. It was Mr. Popular with his 'bad boy' reputation running around the school, Linus Crawford. Okay, who couldn't resist his black ominous hair, chiseled jaw, and bluebell eyes? Now that's what I call a piece of a sinful artwork. As he walked past me and Jaxon, I couldn't help but admire him, and that's when I see his eyes shot a glance at me from the side. What am I supposed to feel? Threatened? Honored?

"Please tell me you're not still into bad boy Linus?" Jaxon questioned me as Linus walked round the corner, vanishing with a couple of shrieking girls tailing him.

"I have no idea of what answer I should give that question, Jax." I replied as I turned back to my locker and placed some books not needed for today.
