i stepped into the class room right after the bell, "(y/n) better be here on time". my teacher points at the clock on the wall, "sorry" i apologize and take a seat next to Stan.
"why were you late" i hear Stan ask me as I'm pulling out my algebra. i glance over watching him taking notes,
"uh me and bill had an argument" i sigh. "oh" was all he had to say.
I hear my phone vibrate in my back pocket.

bill💝: sorry (y/n) it's not working out, we're better off as friends:/

you: is it because of Beverly? I knew you liked her while we were dating

bill💝: doesn't matter...I think we should stick to being friends

I turn off my phone and slam it down on my desk, making the people around me look at me. I take out my notebook and start doodling, as my eyes started to water, a single tear drop landed on a small doodle of Bill I drew awhile ago. I scribbled over his face and turned the page. "this is from Eddie" Stan said giving me a piece of paper, I unfolded it and read it; "are you okay??" I looked behind me to look at Eddie where he was already looking at me, "I'm fine" i mouthed and gave him a small smile as a small tear rolled down my cheek. I turned around and just let the tear roll down my face, quietly sat there crying for the rest of the period.

-after class-

I walked down the hall with my head looking down onto my phone so no one could see me crying or my smudged mascara. considering algebra was my last period I left the school and started to walk home, I walked past bill and Beverly, bill didn't even seem upset, didn't even bother to make eye contact with me. I heard running coming from behind me but I didn't bother to look back. "hey (y/n) what's up!" Eddie asks.
I look up to him and shrug my shoulders. "look what I got you!" he says cheerfully, I look up again and see a big sunflower in his hand as he smiles proudly. "aw thanks Eddie, you're the sweetest" i take the flower as his ears turn red. "I took it from the schools garden" he says as he plays with his backpack strings.

"(y/n)?"

"yeah?" I respond looking at the flower.

"willyoubemygirlfriend"  he asks and takes a huff of his inhaler.

I take the time to rethink what he said without making him say it again so he won't feel awkward.

"I'd love to be your girlfriend Eddie... but not right at the moment because you know me and bill just broke up"

"oh yes of course, please take all the time you need".

"thanks Eddie" i laugh as I lightly bump him with my shoulder.

"but don't you walk the other way to get to your house"? i point behind me with my thumb.

"yeah I do" he chuckles and turns around and starts walking home.
