These simple moments I take.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
The scent is still there, burning in my nose.
My eyes open to a black night.
I hear the heart beat of my prey, slowly walking through the forest.
I walk quietly forward, masking my smell, so my prey doesn't get scared.
I close my eyes again and see it there.
Just standing in a clearing, already injured from a hunter earlier in the day.
Blood.
I smelled the beautiful aroma of blood, it was a deer, that the hunter had left for he didn't know, he knicked its leg.
My fangs slide down into place, cutting my lips in the process.
I open my eyes walk towards my prey.
I see it there where I saw it in my vision.
But I could see more now, there was a tall willow tree, the deer was hiding beneath its leaves that hung low to the ground.
I walked through the leaves to see my prey starting at me.
I am sorry this has happened to you my friend.
I am sorry for what I am about to do.
I walked slowly at the deer, it started to get up to try and run, but it fell back down.
I took my hand and placed it on the deer' s head.
I looked deep onto its eyes and saw fear.
I am sorry.
In one swift motion I broke its neck.
And drank.
Once I was done, I dug a grave underneath the willow tree.
I put the body in the grave.
Buried it and turned to walk away.
Before I left the willows leaves I turned and looked at the grave.
"Thank you my friend." I said and walked away.
