I'm tired of being constantly judged because of my race
I'm a human just like you. I bleed the same color. I cry the same tears.
So why do you think you're above me?
You have not conquered all I have
You have not broken down boundaries for your rights as I have
Yet you think you have the right to look down upon me.
But despite your constant judgment
I shall not be broken or shattered,
Resilient I am
I'm infrangible, Incorruptible, Invulnerable
And most of all, I'm fed up with your constant judgment
You try to tear me down and wear down my courage,
But my faith is like that of a stubborn old horse
I don't slowly fray after one tug
My color will not fade after one round
Instead, I will stand tall
My head held high
My heart that of elastic
I can take more than you think
You have underestimated me
I have taken your loads of judgment, hatred, abuse
And despite it, I continue to stand tall
So next time you wish to call me inferior
I dare you to live through the hate and suffering that
I go through on a day-to-day basis
And see how much you can endure
Then I dare you to tell me to my face
That you could withstand a minute of it
Because It's clear that it will be lies
And why would someone
so high and mighty stoop to the level of a liar
For such a thing called pride
That my ancestors threw away every time
They bowed to your ancestors' feet
To clean their floors and be whipped by them
Simply because they were a different skin tone
You may think you are superior people
But your minds certainly aren't
So this is my time
To rise up against you
To stand up to you the way they never could
Because of a thing called fear
That, I have thrown away
There is no room for 'fear' in my life
My ancestors lived with that every day
So they had enough for the both of us
For I am blessed with a freedom to be myself
And that I will not throw away for you
Because the day will come when I rise up
And you will be the one under me
But instead of looking down on you
I will extend my hand out down below
And pull you up
Because I want to show you what the bigger man is supposed to be like
They are supposed to lift up those beneath them, not step on them
Because in the end, boundaries will be broken
And light will be stolen
So I suggest you get a flashlight and keep your white
Because this time, you will be the one in the dark
