Chapter 1:
"Don't look back!" is the only thing my mind can process as I run from the place I once called home. Have you ever had to witness someone burning your parents bodies while another person raids your personal belongings? You probably haven't, lucky you. The reason I ran wasn't because of the scene playing out in front of me. Even though it was horrific. It was because of the fact that there were people there. Actual, real, live people. To most people they would see it as a chance to start a new life. To me, it's a chance to get hurt all over again. Once I saw them it took me 2 seconds to realize I had to run. I didn't look back to see if they saw me. I just took off. As i was running through the park that i used to take walks through a wave of peoples faces flash in my mind. I feel like I'm hearing voices calling my name, but i dismiss it. Soon, I can't pay attention to what's in front of so much as the people in my mind. That then causes me to trip and fall face first into the pavement. With my quick reflefes, I put my hands in front of me to help my fall. I end up scraping both of my palms, and that's it. I realize, that the voices I hear are ones in my head that i've been hearing since this started. At first, I thought that I was going crazy. That was before I realized that the voices started helping me. They tell me what to do to survive and when I need to hide. Now, they seem to tell me things that i've never heard them tell me. They start to tell me that it's all my fault. That I could of done something to help them. That i could have saved them, but I was too selfish to do so. I crawl into a fetal position which consists of hugging my knees and rocking back and forth while crying because I know that they're right. I end up screaming and crying for what felt like hours before I stood up and brushed the dirt off my knees. I decided to go to the abandoned store that i usually get supplies from. I go in, grab a backpack, and go on the hunt for supplies.
1 1/2 hours later:
I end up with 1 duffel bag full of blankets, toiletries, and extra clothes. In a backpack I have canned food, bottled water, medicine, and a new pair of running shoes. In my boots I have a couple of knives for opening cans and anything that tries to attack me. After I find myself satisfied, I go to the front of the store to leave. As I pass checkout lane #6 I slip on a spill that was never cleaned up and fall to the floor. I hear a sickening crack which meant I cracked my skull, so I screm an ear-spliting scream that hurts my throat. As spots cover my eyes I hear people running torwards me. The last thing I see is a pair of mesmerizing green eyes that grab my attention instantly. I thought I left those green eyes behind me along time ago I think before I let the darkness consume me.
