Emelia

The next morning I got up early to shower and get ready for school. After I got out of the shower I quickly changed into my outfit. I kept it simple yet cute with ripped blue jeans, a cream flowy t-shirt and a forest green jacket. I blow dried my hair and straightened it. I didn't want to leave it in its usual frizzy waves. I brushed my teeth and put on a little bit of makeup on.

For someone who's good at art I'm not very good with makeup. I just try to keep it simple with a very light layer of tinted moisturizer that I use as foundation, a little bit of bronzer and some light blush because lord knows I'm not trying to look dead on my first day at my new school.

I curl my eyelashes, apply some mascara and apply some chap stick on my lips. I comb out my eyebrows and make them stay in place with some clear brow gel. My parents blessed me with thick eyebrows so I don't have to fill them in. I guess I could but I'm too lazy for that. I simply pluck them and keep them in a shape that satisfies me.

I quickly grabbed my backpack and sneakers and made my way downstairs to get some breakfast. I threw my stuff on the couch and found my mom sitting by the breakfast bar drinking her morning coffee and reading the paper.

"Morning mom!" I said making myself some peanut butter toast.

"Morning" She mumbled as she read the newspaper.

"We're dropping you off today. It's walking distance but I want to make sure you get there safe okay?"

"Yes mom" I mumbled biting into my toast.

"And we also want to make sure all the paperwork is done correctly"

"Hey kiddo" My dad said walking in.

"Excited for your first day?" He asked as he poured himself his cup of coffee.

"Yeah" I nodded.

"Good" He smiled.

After breakfast I put on my shoes and ran out the door to meet my parents. We pulled up to the school and I could feel my breath being taken away. The school looked huge from the outside. I bet it was even bigger on the inside.

We parked and I could feel the nerves rising inside my stomach. We walked into the main office and the receptionist looked up and smiled.

"Hello! How can I help you?" She asked.

"Hi! My daughter is a new student. We enrolled her yesterday" My mom talked with the receptionist and exchanged information.

"Okay Emelia, Welcome! Here is your schedule, the bell schedule, school calendar, student handbook, and some other materials you might need."

"I have some paperwork for you ma'am to fill out and sign as we will need to input Emelia's student information into the schools system." The receptionist said.

"Okay, would it be okay if I filled these out here?" My mom asked.

"Of course! You may take a seat in the waiting area and take all the time you need" The receptionist handed my mom a clipboard and pen.

"Thank you. Is okay for her to start school today?"

"If Emelia wants she can start today or if she needs some time she can start tomorrow"

"I want to start today" I spoke up.

"Okay, let me get my TA" She said heading to the back of the office.
