Trini had spent the whole morning trying to avoid her friends. Last night was some shitty time, and the amount of make up she needed to cover the bags under her eyes was out of proportions.
After finishing her test, she packed her thing in her bag and headed to the café near campus. Headphones on and some random playlist kept her distracted all the walk.
"Where are you? I've been looking for you all morning" the message came in the middle of her singalong.
"If it isn't important, I prefer to stay missing" quick fingers typed a reply before she could ever think about being subtle.
"You better practice. then. You really suck at hide-and-seek" Zack said in her ear, making her jump.
"Jeez, Zack! Stop doing that" Trini tried to calm her heart. Her pulse was out of control.
"Stop hiding, Crazy Girl," Zack replied placing his arm around her shoulders. "Would you tell me what's bothering you?"
"I barely slept last night due to an exam. I'm just cranky" she entered the cafe sighing loud. She only wished to be calm today. She just wanted a day to herself. But no. Karma was messing with her. Again.
"Weird. Kim had said the same thing to us" Zack raised an eyebrow. "You sure it's just because of your exam?" and this is what Trini meant. All the questions she couldn't answer.
"Talk to me, Trin. Stop keeping the thing to yourself" Zack tilted his head, his eyes filled with concern.
Trini analyzed his words, wondering if he was right. Last night was nothing but a big mistake. A mistake she would regret for the eternity. Last night was the opposite to Zack's words. Last night was a living nightmare.
"Please?" Zack begged, squeezing her hand forcing Trini to look at him.
"Kim knows everything" her voice was a whisper, afraid of the event coming true if she raised her voice. "She knows everything and I feel the biggest dumbass in the world. She knows everything and she ran. She left me behind without even yelling at me" Trini felt her heartbreaking as the words came out. The incident playing in her mind like the tragedy it was.
---------------------
"NO! STOP IT NOW!" Trini yelled at her, fighting to escape the embrace.
"Not till you tell me what gets you so absorbed" Kim laughed, still tickling her.
"I will never!" the shorter girl said. Her hands grabbed Kim's in a quick move, her faces inches away as their eyes were locked into each other.
"You should live with the intrigue, princess" Trini cleared her throat before releasing her friend's hands.
"Oh come on! You love me. You can't keep me clueless" Kim's words clicked something in Trini's head.
"Yes, I can. Even if I love you" for a minute, she felt safe saying those three words. Those same three words that threatened to leave her lips for the last 5 years. Even she was surprised by the patience she had inside her.
"What could be that bad for you to not tell me?" Kim sighed, sitting on the edge of Trini's bed.
"If I tell you, I should kill you" Trini sing sang, hoping for Kim to quit this questionnaire. The look she got from her friend made her tremble. How could she tell her this without being hurt in the process? How could she speak the words if it'll break them apart? She was sure that losing their friendship was something that-
"Por favor!" Kim said, taking Trini's hands in hers. Her eyes begging for an answer. Trini knew right then and there that she had lost the battle. And boy, she hated herself for that.
