I stood in front of the mirror and pulled my hair back into a pony tail taking in all my flaws that I wish I could fix.

But I can't.

That's impossible. I was born this way and I can't change it.

I tug a black half top over my head and pull a pair of jeans over my thighs. I walk to the lose brick where I keep my knife and tucked it into my boot. I reached for my sword which was propped up against my bed and slid it into my belt. It was basically impossible to hide from the nurses here, they have eyes like hawks.

I took one last look in the mirror looking myself up and down before turning to the window with thick metal bars around the front of it.

The window wasn't very large only about a meter tall. But the size wasn't bothering me, being short made this a lot more easier than it had to be for me. What I really was concerned about was the metal bars blocking me from even touching the glass.

If I was chosen as fire this wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately I was given anything that involved shit you can't see. Whoop-dee do for me! I could just be the most boring element if telekinesis didn't come into the mix. But right now telekinesis was no help. I have to think of something else...

Well I'm out of ideas. I never said I was smart. Don't judge me.

"If only you gave me fire you no good son of a bitch" I muttered to myself.

I looked at the bolts holding the bars in place, they were huge, but they didn't look a day over 200.

I put my hand against one of the bolts and used my telekinesis to slowly unscrew it. Thank god I broke the surveillance last week or I'd be so dead right about now. The screw dropped to the floor. I quickly picked it up and shoved it under the mattress of my wooden framed bed. I let myself smile a little, moving onto the next one, and then the next one until there was nothing holding the metal frame up and with a clang it hit the ground.

Quickly, I kicked the glass out and jumped through. I landed in a courtyard with trees and blossoming flowers everywhere.

It was depressing! Bright colours are just not my thing.

Around the garden was a large barbed wire fence keeping me in and my friends out.

This is an institution for "special" children. Kids like me. Powerful, powerful kids who were abandoned by their families because the scientist behind this program thought it was "for the greater good of this country". They thought they caught us all. But they were wrong. I have friends outside these fences plotting to get me out of here. And if it works for me, it'll work for the rest of them.

I put the metal blade facing the sun sending light off into the dessert on the other side of the fence. Using the ethics of morse code I sent 'S.O.S' in the direction of the SUV which was parked about a kilometre to the left of the room I just broke out of. I didn't have much time until they realised I'd made a runner.

The hardest part about being in that room was smuggling weapons in and hiding them in my room. It was basically impossible!

The SUV pulled me back to the present sending a reply back with its headlights, 'on our way'.

I looked at my reflection in a shard of glass. I had greyish-blue eyes and pail skin, if I didn't have freckles I'd look twice as intimidating. But then there was my height I had to deal with. I was short. Really short. I was never happy with my height. I've always been the smallest kid in the class. Everyone thinks of 12 or 11, but really I'm 16. It's so embarrassing!

Two figures jumped from the car and ran to one of the watch towers. They stopped for a second to hold hands turning invisible immediately.

Two seconds later two teenagers appeared on the other side of the fence, a boy and a girl.

The boy, who I knew as Henry, had olive skin and jet black hair cut short, in his left hand he held a sword and in his right he was still holding the girls hand.

Her name was Fi,her hair was blonde which she pulled into a messy fish braid that draped over her shoulder. She had bright blue eyes and not a sign of imperfection.

I felt jealous of her immediately. You just don't naturally look that freaking stunning.

Ughhhhh. Blondes!

Their hands dropped and Henry stepped forward and started to hack at the fence. Setting alarms blaring from all directions.

"I thought you said we had 2 minutes before the alarms started!" He yelled.

"I thought so to!" I was panicking now. They must of upgraded security systems. A second later soldiers were coming from all directions looking for the rule breakers.

They spotted us just as he finished a hole big enough for me to get through. I slid through narrowly missing the first round of bullets fired. I stopped the second round with my telekinesis then turning them on the soldiers treating to let them fly. They ran away pretty damn fast.

Fi grabbed my hand and we turned invisible, we ran to the SUV with Henry hot on our heals firing shots at any brave guards who thought they could take us on.

We arrived to the car and my best friend, Leo, jumped out and tackled me into a bear hug.

"You ok? How was prison? Was the food gross? Did you hook up with a buff dude with tats?..."

"Not a good time Leo!" I say. He looks over my shoulder and notices the reinforcements sprinting towards us.

"Oh, oh, OH, we really got to go!" Leo say panicked.

"Well nah shit!" I yell.

He quickly ran into the front seat and I jumped in next to him I looked in the back to see a guy, not to much older than me sitting in the back seat.

"This is Liam" Leo says noticing my opened mouth. But what could I say, he was hot. Really, really hot. I think I'm drooling a little.

"He's one of us." Leo said.
