So Much Pain

I sit on the weirdest chair I've ever sat on, probably because of all the straps that are keeping me in this chair. For some reason, I'm in the chem lab with...What do I call her? She looks like Jade's little sister but she's not, I miss Ephraim, at least I know his name. She looks at me, holding a bunsen burner which she's mid lighting.

"I wonder if your screams will be like Mickey's or your ancestor's?" I don't reply, looking everywhere but at her. "You're less talkative than your ancestor, he was sassing me until I took out his tongue." I want to puke but I don't. The bunsen burner lights and she forces my hand over the flame. I scream.

"AH!" She lets go of my hand and I stare at a hole right through it. I puke all over her and she looks angry. "Maybe you shouldn't burn holes through someone's hand, less puke that way." She shoves the chair against the wall, giving me a disappointed smile.

"Mickey never vomited. He screamed but he had names carved into his chest and a hot poker run down his back," I spit in her face and she grabs my throat. "What's your loophole? If you tell me the loophole, I'll tell Ephraim that he can let your little friends go, apart from your Prophesied friends." I look up, panting hard.

"Fuck you," Her hand goes across my face and I grin. "Don't handle rejection well, then?" I hope I'm channeling my inner Rose. "Look Ephraim's mom, my friends would hate me for..." I trail off, as I realise what she had asked me. "Wait, you don't have my Guardians and the halfling kids?" She blinks and I do something that could be considered stupid. I slam my head against the wall hard and knock myself out. I appear on the beach to see Mad randomly dancing. "MAD!" Mad turns, looking scared and I run to her, feeling the pain in my hand. "They don't have my Guardians or the halfling kids. Tell the others. I don't have much time." Almost on cue, I wake up to someone touching the back of my head.

"Idiot. How the hell did you knock yourself out?" I blink at Maguire's voice and turn to look at her. "Hey big brother. Get rid of the protective face, you're the one that's hurt." I notice the bandage on my hand and hug Maguire.

"I thought you were dead...I shot you," She hugs me back, crying into my shoulder. "What happened after you punched Lisa? Did you go home?" She pulls out of the hug and nods.

"Yeah...Ephraim took me when I walked in and had a vampire kill mom and dad," I remember the bodies and feel like puking. "What happened to Stoned? Is he okay?" I shake my head slowly, hating I have to tell her.

"After I thought I killed you, I went to check on him and his head was on his pillow," Maguire looks confused until I continue. "And his body was in his stoned chair...If Ephraim didn't have him killed, then who the hell did?" Maguire pukes into a trash can and I rub her back, taking in our surroundings. The nurse's office which is close to an exit. "Maguire, do you remember Caleb and Paul? Has Ephraim got them somewhere?" Maguire wipes her mouth with the back of her hand, thinking hard.

"Yeah, his mom had him find Paul and other halflings," I kick a chair, hating myself for asking if Ephraim had the Guardians and the halfling kids. "St Clair, what's so important about halflings?" I take off my glasses and clean them carefully.

"They're my loophole. A halfling has to die and two former vampires said Paul and Caleb have to die," I put my glasses back on and Maguire looks guilty as Ephraim and his mom walk in. "Maguire! I thought you were on my side." Ephraim kisses Maguire briefly before smiling at me.

"She is my girlfriend, she is on my side," I look at Maguire, tears in my eyes. "Killing you will be a pleasure. Especially since you spat on my mother. I love the prophesied...They love far too much and trust so easily." The pain in my hand and head is nothing compared to the betrayal. I stand up and look at Maguire with tears going down my face.

"I don't have a sister anymore," She flinches a little but I can tell it's fake. "Can you lock me back up or something so I don't hurt that person wearing my sister's face?" Ephraim clicks his fingers and guards grab my arms.

"Put him back with the other prophesied," I stare at Ephraim and spit at him. "And give him a nice big black eye." The guard takes off my glasses and punches me in the eye. I smile at the guard as he puts my glasses back on.

"Thanks for not breaking my glasses," I stop myself from showing surprise as I realise it's Josh. I wait until we're far away from Ephraim. "You're a dick, you know that, right?" Josh nods and leads me to the other prophesied. "One of the halflings is destined to die with his boyfriend who's my half brother...Let me die...I don't want them to die...I've lost too many siblings already." Josh looks at me with a sad smile.

"I made a promise to your granny. I can't let you die," I kick Josh in the balls which does nothing. "I know the prophesied have death wishes and hero complexes but I swore to her I wouldn't let you die. I'm sorry." Josh pushes me into my old math room and locks it after me. I slam my hand on the little glass.

"JOSH! LET ME SAVE THEM!" I look behind me and realise I'm not with the prophesied. Paul and Caleb smile at me before hugging me tightly. "Guys, you need to get out of here...You're both destined to die." Paul smiles wider, his eyes shining with unshed tears.

"We know...We're okay with that," Caleb nods, arm around Paul. "We want to take care of you for once. Let us save you." I shake my head and Caleb nods.

"We're saving you with the help of that blonde lady," Caleb points at the supply closet. "Alessandra Salvatore." I throw open the closet to find nothing and hate that no one will let me save them all.
