Holy crap this took so long to finish, sorry about that.
Link made his way around the tightly packed trees. He decided to take a break, stopping by a thick tree with roots sticking up from the ground. He picked at the handle of his slingshot, his pudgy fingers just barely being able to wrap all the way around it. He puffed out his cheeks before finally deciding to play a tune.
The small blonde boy pulled out the wooden ocarina that he received from Saria. He pressed it to his lips and began playing the lullaby she had taught him.
Somewhere not far from where the boy in the tunic sat, another boy with (h/l), (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes was sitting in a tree. His feet were dangling and he swung them back and forth.
A brisk tune reached his ears and he looked in the direction it seemed to come from. His eyes didn't spot anything out of the ordinary so he jumped from his place in the tree. What (y/n) wasn't expecting was for his pant leg to catch on a branch. He fell upside down, a cry of surprise escaped through his lips. One leg caught on a branch while the other hung over another so he wouldn't fall on his head. His arms dangled below him, and he could feel the blood rushing to his head.
The boy's cry was heard by Link, who had ended his melody. He looked up to see nothing, and stood, putting away his ocarina, and moving toward the noise.
He came across a small boy of about seven, so his age, hanging by his legs in a tree. His face was red, and his eyelids were barely open. He looked ill.
Link tapped his shoulder causing (Y/n)'s eyes to flutter open, looking at Link. He pouted at his predicament, his face getting redder by the moment.
Link smiled at the situation, taking a step back to assess the it. He hummed in thought.
It finally came to Link that he could just cut the boy out by hacking at the branch holding his leg captive with his kokiri sword. He swung the blade, whacking at the wood until it finally gave way, releasing a loud crack that echoed through the forest. The boy was dropped onto the grass, groaning in pain.
The boy rolled onto his back, and Link held out a hand for him to take, which he did. He was pulled up so he was standing about a half a meter in front of Link.
The boy laughed, "thanks. Couldn't have found a way to get me down where I wouldn't be in extreme pain?"
Link shook his head.
"I'm (y/n). And you?"
"Link."
(Y/n) tilted his head to the side. "You don't talk much, do you? That's all I've heard you say."
Link shrugged.
"So," (y/n) felt it was his job to hold up the conversation, seeing as Link wasn't much of a talker. "Was that you playing music earlier?"
Link's face lit up, he pulled out his ocarina and played the same tune as he did before. (Y/n) closed his eyes and leaned against the tree, listening to the lovely melody play out.
~7 years later~
Link pulled (y/n) up from the ground. They had just defeated a Wolfos. It had hit (y/n) pretty hard and he'd remained on the ground as Link delivered the finishing blow.
Fortunately, (y/n) was in a good mood, and not even having the air knocked out of him could get rid of. You see, (y/n) and Link were on their way to visit Zelda, the princess, someone who (y/n) had taken an immediate liking to. Every time they would go to see her (y/n)'s heart would pound wildly in his chest and his face would heat up profoundly.
Link always took notice of this, and after he had first introduced the two had begun shipping them, so any chance he'd get, he'd bring (y/n) to the castle.
And so they were on their way. (Y/n) carrier a bag filled with clothes, his shoulders were starting to get sore and he wondered when they'd be there. Link just carried everything he usually carried, his rupee bag, weapons, shield, and so on. Yet, he was fine, he was used to carrying all this so it didn't make much of a burden to him. (Y/n) was sweating like crazy, his shirt was soaked. Balls of sweat dripped down his forehead as Link held out his hand, offering to hold the burdening bag. (Y/n) immediately swung it off his shoulders and put the shoulder straps into Link's hand. Link chuckled slightly, throwing the bag over his shoulders overtop his sword and shield.
After a long time of more and more walking they reached the draw bridge to enter the Hyrule market. It creaked under their feet. The guard standing at the entrance greeted them with a nod, then returning to his statue like position.
They walked through the market, weaving around the large crowd of people. (Y/n) briefly lost Link in the sea of people, only to luckily catch a glimpse of his bright green hat and blonde hair. (Y/n) moved toward him, and when he finally reached him he grabbed Link's sleeve to avoid losing him again.
They finally reached the castle, sneaking through the guarded garden (heheh that's fun to say), avoiding the view of the guards. They crawled around the bushes until they finally reached the secluded garden they always met Zelda in.
She stood there, elegant as always in her flowing dress. Hearing the boy's footsteps, she turned around and smiled as she met their eyes. She stepped down from her pedestal and walked towards them. She first hugged Link. Zelda let go, moving to (y/n) and smiling wider before wrapping him in a bone crushing hug.
(Y/n) looked over Zelda's shoulders to see Link holding back laughter as he turned the corner and left.
(Y/n) choked out words. "Wha- but- Link-"
Zelda turned around only to see Link was nowhere around. She sighed, shrugging. "You know how he is. He's probably got something else to do."
(Y/n) laughed awkwardly. He knew the real reason Link snuck out. He knew (y/n) liked Zelda. He set this up. That silent bastard!
Zelda turned to (y/n). "How about we go to the market?"
(Y/n) smiled brightly, how could he turn down spending a day with her?
She hooked her arm in his and led them out the castle into the market. People would say hi as they passed the couple, but otherwise kindly didn't bother them. The two went into various shops, having the time of their lives. But you know when you're having fun the time flies like crazy. Before they even knew it, it was dark and their day was over.
(Y/n) looked over his shoulder as they just began to make their way back to the castle when he saw a booth, still open, that he wanted to get something from.
He looked at Zelda. "Can you stay here for a second?" She nodded slowly, confused.
(Y/n) made his way over to the booth. He picked out a red rose, handed the woman the required rupees to purchase it, and walked back to Zelda. He held out his hand holding the rose in front of her and smiled shyly. Her hand flew to her mouth, behind that hand held the biggest smile ever.
"A flower for you, m'lady."
