The Kobayashi Resolution

The Kobayashi twins, commonly known as the Lily girls, were simply lazing about in their special room as usual when the unusual occured.

Sayuri's eyes lit up as the most amazing plan (in her opinion) began to dawn upon her.

"You know, Yuriko, don't you think it's rather annoying that people confuse us all the time?" she slowly asked, sitting up from the floor.

From her comfortable position in the corner of the bed on her side of the Get-Along room, Yuriko glanced at her sister with suspicion, then let her half-lidded eyes flicker back to her book. "I was thinking exactly the same thing, Sayuri," she murmured, flipping the page. "Unexpectedly."

She resisted the urge to come back with a witty response herself and simply twirled a lock of her hair with her pinky. "I think we can change things, spice them up a little."

When her sister looked up from her precious novel once more, she knew that she was interested.

"I was planning on getting a haircut, and perhaps dropping out of Saint Robelia's," Sayuri continued, releasing her hair and letting the long strands fall against her cheek. "You know what the commoners say about high school." She grinned and waved her hand dramatically in the air. "It's a time of new beginnings."

Yuriko giggled and closed her book with a snap of a hand. "You might get away with a haircut, but Mother would never allow you to drop out of Robelia's."

"Oh, I don't need her approval. I'll just do something that forces them to expel me," Sayuri replied with a smirk.

"And what would Benibara-sama think?" Yuriko continued with a haughtily raised brow and an equally pompous tone. "You know how eager she is for us to join the White Lily League as soon as we're first years."

Sayuri tossed away her magazine and watched the glossed thing hit the wall and slide into the trash can. "I don't give a rat's ass about the Zuka Club. You can do it by yourself, if you want to do it so much."

Yuriko shook her head. "Of course I don't. However, the connections we could make. . . ."

Sayuri made a very unladylike sound as she flopped onto the floor once more and rolled over onto her stomach. "Father already has plenty of connections. He wouldn't mind. So, what do you think? Any ideas?"

"I'll speak to Mother of the matter," she said. "She's always liked me best. I'm sure I could persuade her to peacefully deal with it. Then we'll all be happy."

"Good enough," Sayuri replied. She glanced at the clock, and stood up and moved towards the door. "Let's go, they should have calmed down by now. It's been three hours already. Oh, and make sure to do it tonight."

"Why so soon?" Yuriko asked. Noticing the conversation was close to its end, she picked up her book and got up from the bed. "It's a little too early to begin persuading Mother. I don't think she appreciated our behavior at the party."

Sayuri smiled sweetly as she twirled her long, black hair once more. "Well, school's starting in a week, so I'm cutting my hair tomorrow morning. Obviously, that would make it a little obvious that we're not each other. Also, I think it would be a nice wake-up call to Mother Dearest, don't you?"

Yuriko laughed. "Oh, you. You're not so bad after all. We should team up more often."

Sayuri wrinkled her nose with a grimace. "Don't even joke about that, Yuriko. It's disgusting."

"All right then," Yuriko said, acquiescing. "We're going our separate ways, so everything should be fine now. But which school are you planning to attend, if not Robelia's?"

Sayuri smiled. "Ouran Academy, of course. What other choice is there?"
