Chapter 1

The matter had been rather simply dealed with. She still didn't know what Yuriko had said to their mother, but whatever she had done, it had worked brilliantly.

Sayuri brushed down the yellow pleats in her dress, admiring her reflection in the mirror. The black in her hair clashed rather terribly with the yellow, but that mattered little. The beauty of a black rose could not be dampened by the color of some insignificant dying leaf.

Yuriko, however, burst into small giggles. "That's such a hideous dress," she tittered, showing off her own uniform on the other side of the room. It was much better than her own, Sayuri had to admit- unfortunately. "Why did you choose Ouran, of all places? Though I must say that the uniform rather compliments you."

It took a moment for her to reclaim her calm facade. "No particular reason," she drawled, ignoring the last thing Yuriko had said. "Even if the uniform is rather dreadful, I'm sure any place without someone like you is bound to be heavenly."

That shut her sister up. They both glared at each other, their glowers infused with venom.

The doors suddenly burst open, and a maid stumbled into the room, as if she had been pushed in. Of course, that was a highly likely situation. The hired help were terrified of their two mistresses.

For good reason, of course, thought Sayuri.

The maid reddened under their scrutinizing stare and hurriedly fixed her appearance, straightening her cap and smoothing out her skirt, looking anywhere except them. "E-excuse me, mistresses," she stuttered, keeping her eyes down, "the lady of the house requests your presence at the table."

twins, hm? how interesting. disgusting. how can they stand each other? i'd like to study them.

swats away their hands. i'm not interested in your interacting with me. i'd like to study you. you seem interesting. entertain me.

i have no particular trauma or fear or flaw.

Though she dearly wanted to swat their hands away her, Sayuri gritted her teeth and resisted. However, she could still feel the goosebumps rising on her skin.
