the man stumbled in his steps, feeling his legs give way with every step.

"i'm a f-few weeks long."

he swiped the tears from his eyes carelessly with the back of his hand to clear his vision. if only it was that easy to lift off the voile of deception jongin had arrayed in front of him.

"i love you so, so much, do kyungsoo!"

it was simply ridiculous how he didn't notice that the extreme sheerness couldn't have shielded him from jongin's lies so effectively. it was ridiculous how he didn't realise he had voluntarily tied a blindfold around his eyes and blocked out the truth.

he did it.

he deceived himself into believing the sun was still reigning in the sky though the moon and stars strived to tell him otherwise.

how impeccably stupid.

"h-he didn't believe he was the father."

kyungsoo really should've listened to chanyeol and torn the blindfold and voile together instead of depending so greatly on his sense of hearing and the lies his infidel of a husband supplied to justify his apathetic and sordid actions.

"i don't love him, n-never did. so you don't have to worry, i'll leave."

krystal was fortunate. him, not so much. he had fallen so completely and utterly in love with his own husband that he'd let the latter reduce him into the mess he is now. that he'd let him delude himself into thinking cheating and lying are just struggles, instead of reasons for leaving. that he'd actually blame himself for everything jongin did to break them.

"huh? o-oh, i had a meeting."

"at 3am?"

"y-yeah, the board of directors wanted to applaud me for my efforts."

kyungsoo scoffed, eyes still trained on the floor. did he think he was dumb? why would a company be so foolish and irresponsible so as to hold a meeting in the wee hours just to commend a person for something they obviously didn't display? why was his husband so special, then?

and efforts? of what? of drilling his colleagues into the office walls, against every corner of the building, and in the stalls? was that really worth applauding for?

if so, then the combined clap of their hands was nothing compared to the sound of kyungsoo's heart breaking into two.

"baby, i have a business trip with the intern tomorrow."

"with the intern?"

"yeah, they want me to show him the ropes so..."
