" 'cause you're broken and bruised, but i can hold you girl"

kristin already made her way to calum's living room. she sat down on the couch and grabbed a pillow, she hid her face in it to cry.

calum sighed as he closed the door. he made his way to the living room and sat beside kristin.

"what did he do this time?" calum asked already knowing the reason kristin was crying. troy.

"he slapped me. i feel so broken." kristin muttered as she buried her face into the pillow.

"he what? he - he hit you? why - why did he do that? are you okay?" calum questioned as he threw his hands up.

"don't worry about me, cal. i'm fine now." she huffed. she was lying.

"no. tell me. please." he begged trying to pull the pillow away from her face.

kristin threw the pillow to calum and gave in. "well..."

flashback →

kristin was just sitting alone in the kitchen as troy and his friends were playing video games in the living room.

kristin felt like no one even knew she was there. so she decided to leave.

"hey troy." she mumbled as she shook troy's shoulder.

"wait. i'm still playing." he scoffed lightly pushing kristin away.

"troy." she shook his shoulder again but he ignored. she repeated his name some more and shook his shoulder a bit harder.

"shit!" troy screamed as he threw the controller across the room. "what the fuck is wrong with you, kristin? you ruined my game!"

"i - i'm sorry. i just wanted to tell you that i'm going home" her voice became softer, she was afraid that troy is going to yell at her and break up with her just because of a stupid game.

"fuck! am i supposed to care if you're going home?"

"y - yes. you're... you're my boyfriend. you should act like one." she spoke looking up at troy.

"are you saying i don't act like a boyfriend to you? wow, kristin. wow. you should act like my girlfriend and don't mess up when i'm in a middle of a game!" he yelled as he pushed his finger on kristin's shoulder.

"what's so important about that game anyway?" she raised her voice and stepped closer despite the fact that she was afraid.

troy's friends were just quietly watching and thinking if they should interrupt or not.

"that game was actually more important than you! if i won that, they're all giving me a big amount of money because we made a bet! it's your fault i didn't win." he yelled getting more angry.

kristin was going to slap him, but he saw her hand coming and he caught it in his left hand. "you think you can slap me, huh?"

kristin shook her head as tears brimmed in the corner of her eyes. she didn't know what got into her. she suddenly just wanted to slap him.

"this is what you get for trying."

his palm connected to her cheek leaving a mark. kristin winced in pain as she covered her cheek with a hand. when she felt the tears on her hand, she ran out the door. she went to calum's house instead of going home. she thought that maybe, just maybe, calum can cheer her up.

-

"because of a game? he slapped you because of a stupid game?" calum asked and kristin nodded. "when will you ever br-"

"i won't, calum. i can't do it." kristin cut calum off because she already knew he was going to ask her when will she break up with troy.

kristin didn't know anything when it came to break ups. boys were the one to break up with her which is odd. on her last relationship, she had to wait for two months for the guy to break up with her because she didn't feel the same anymore.

"oh. sorry." calum sighed.

silence fell between the two. calum was concerned for her friend, he didn't want to see her like this. kristin was replaying the sentences troy told her earlier. because of this she started to cry again.

"calum." she sobbed.

"yeah?" he whispered as he sat closer to her.

"i could really use a hug right now."

calum wrapped his arms around kristin. she cried on calum's shoulder making his shirt damp. calum held her tight in his arms not wanting to let her go anymore. he ran his hands up and down kristin's back soothingly and hummed a song to her.

they stayed like that for a few minutes. kristin felt completely comfortable in calum's arms.

they stopped when calum asked her if she wanted to watch a movie.
