Hi! My name is Vanessa and this is my first book on here and I am going to try my best to entertain you! I am sorry for the errors and spelling mistakes.

Chapter 1 -

*Elle’s POV*

Warm sand was beneath my toes; I could hear the sounds of families and friends splashing each other in the background. Laughter was filling my ears; I could feel the sun beating down on my skin. I was in the Bahamas tanning on the beach and listening to chocolate by 1975. I was relaxing and savouring every moment of this blissful moment of peace. Then suddenly I could hear beeping, and more beeping. Where was this coming from? Why is their suddenly beeping in the middle of the Bahamas? Then it dawned to me that it was the sound of my alarm clock going off at 7am on a Saturday morning. And, you may wonder why I have an alarm clock going off at 7am. Well, it is for my 9am shift at the Starbucks approximately 3 blocks away from my apartment, well, more like a studio suite in the middle of Williamsburg. Now, I suddenly registered that I wasn’t sunbathing in the middle of the Caribbean but the fact that I had to get ready for work. Yes, work. Somewhere I have to tirelessly make coffees for strangers. And, somewhere I have to be in less than two hours, so, I should really get a move on.

I pulled off my white covers, and turned off my alarm clock. I had no time to bother with making my bed so I just headed to the shower literally a 30 second walk from my bed. I cleansed my body with a lemon scrub then I dried myself off and rubbed some coconut cream on. I headed to my wardrobe and picked up simple white shirt and black jeans and I didn’t really need to dress up considering I had to change into my uniform at work anyway. I headed towards the kitchen to grab myself a simple banana and croissant to munch on. I turned on the TV remote to see what was on, and whilst I was eating and scrolling through the channels music began to flood my ears.

You look so perfect standing there

In my American Apparel underwear

And I know now, that I'm so down

Your lipstick stain is a work of art

I got your name tattooed in an arrow heart

And I know now, that I'm so down

That’s actually not a bad song I began to thought, considering I am very picky with my music choice. The lyrics are not the worst considering what makes the top of the charts these days. And, the guys who ever they are can actually sing.

“Well, that was the newly released single by 5 Seconds of Summer. They are currently here in NYC and will be performing in a couple days and they will be touring the rest of the USA to promote their album. There is plenty more to come from them and we are excited to hear it. We will be back after the advert with the boys. Stay tuned!” The music host announced.

That’s a shame I thought to myself as I saw that the time was already 7:56 am on the clock in the corner of the screen. I still have to get ready and walk to work. I turned of the TV and put my dirty dish into the sink and headed to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth.

I walked back into my bedroom and started brushing my hair. I pulled it into a simple ponytail and put on some mascara and lip balm and grabbed some stuff I needed from my desk. I grabbed my coat and purse and put on some black leather boots. I locked the door and headed down the stairs, said hello to the mailman and headed down the street. After lunch my shift ends and I was going to do something. Though, I cannot remember what I was supposed to do. I should just call Derek he would tell me; he is one of my closet friends. And, no I am not into him but he is just one of my closest friends since I came to this city. He helped me find this apartment, and managed to get some of my work into a gallery showing next Tuesday. Which, is quite a big deal for me considering I haven’t gotten my ‘big break’ yet whilst working as freelance photographer and painter. I quickly called Derek and after a couple of rings he picked up his phone. Thankfully.

“Hey,” he said down the phone.

“Hey, Derek. It’s me. I forgot what I have after my shift. Sorry, I just had a late night, I feel so tired. It feels like I have waken up with Amnesia.” I told him.

“Again? You need some serious sleep, cause you got that opening next week and I need you fully alert. Anyways, honey, you got a important meeting with a company to do draw some album covers and that. Can’t remember the details but you have them listed on your contacts. I was there when you got the phone call, he saw some of your work and was interested. Anyways, good luck, I have to go the lecturer is giving me some evil glares.” Derek hanged up on me before I had the chance to say bye.

But thank God for Derek reminding me about that meeting I would have completely forgot. I scrolled down my contacts and saw the contact “Music Album Covers”, and I kinda guessed that’s them. I pressed call.. and waited for someone to answer me. I waited until a woman around in her early twenties answered me.

“Hello. Who is this?” She asked in a friendly voice.

“Um, hi. This is Elle. I was wondering what time is my meeting today?..” I replied.

“Hello, Elle. Your meeting with Mr Hanson is at 2pm, dear. Be prompt. He doesn’t like to wait around too long and you will meet the artists.”

Well, now I know that I better be there on time. I was going to be anyway. And, Artists? There are going to be more than one?  Anyways, that doesn’t really affect me. I guess I would meet them. I just hope that I would be able to get along with them; I hope they aren’t stuck up and think they are the best things on earth.

“Ok. I will be. Thank you.” I told her good bye and asked for the address of the company. Luckily, it was only two stops by the subway, would be there in no time.

I was nearly in front of Starbucks and put my phone into my jeans pocket. And, headed for the door. I am suddenly opening the door and at the exact time someone else opens the door. So, some hand ends up touching mine and slightly knocks me off balance. What the hell. I look up to see a pair of green eyes staring back into my plain brown ones. This stranger leans down and reaches for my other hand to help me stand up. I gladly take it and stand up, brushing off my coat. Well, talk about embarrassing. Especially, in front of work where I can see Samantha inside looking for me to take over her shift. Great. I was about to be on time until some stranger bumped into me. Ugh. I am so clumsy.

“Are you ok?” The stranger said apologetically. I could detect a slight accent, something Australian. Well, not only is the stranger good looking but also has a nice accent. Typical. He actually looked concerned.

“Yes. Sorry. Sorry. I am fine. Sorry about that. “ I said in a rush in attempt to cover up my embarrassment.

“No. It is my fault, I should be the one apologizing. The least I can do is buy you a drink. So, what do you want?” He asked opening the door for me to go inside.

“No thanks. I work here. I will be the one making you a drink. “ I chuckled.

“That doesn’t matter. Maybe after your shift? It is the least I could do.”

“Sorry, but I have to go and start my shift.” I told him. It was a shame but it doesn’t matter. I wouldn’t have minded a free Starbucks drink. And with a handsome stranger.

“I might get a coffee from you then,” he winked. He started heading to one of the stools in front of the till. I chuckled at his reply and headed to the ‘Employees only’ room.
