Chapter 3:

Scotty McCreery had brought me to... Lake Benson! Lake Benson was where we would go when we were so little and it was a place where we could just think and relax. He got out of Loretta and jogged to the passenger side door, opened it, and helped me out of Loretta. He was such a gentleman. Scotty must have wanted to have a picnic, because he brought a picnic basket filled with, peanut butter, jelly, and banana sandwiches, Doritos, and sweet tea... from Bojangles. I wasn't expecting this at all. He picked a spot for us and laid down a red and white checkered blanket, so we could sit on the ground. I reached in and laid out Scotty's food for him, and my food. We started eating the gooey, chewy, and delicious pb, j, and b sandwiches, we finished our Doritos, and our sweet tea. After we were done, I helped Scotty clean up our mess. The mess was cleaned up and Scotty said he wanted to just talk. I agreed. We got to talking about school and just life and then the unexpected happened... Scotty kissed me. I was schocked, but I think I liked it. No, wait! Scotty is my best friend, my other half. I can't mess up our friendship. I told Scotty I didn't want us dating to mess up our friendship. He said "Haylee, you are my best friend, my girl. I really love you. I've loved you since the day I saw you. I've felt like we were meant to be together." "Scotty." I had to think about how I felt about Scotty. I finally found my answer to his statement. "Scotty, I love you too. And by the way, you are a great kisser." He laughed and said "Why, thank ya, thank ya very much, in his Elvis Presley impression." We kissed again and this time, I felt something, I felt like we were meant to be. I asked him if it was okay if... if we dated, just to ya know... see how it felt. "I would love to go out with you baby girl" I smiled at this. We got up and headed towards Loretta and of course, Scotty opened my door and helped me in. After closing my door, he jogged to his side, got in, put the key in the ignition, turned the key, and Loretta roared to life. We started to head back to our houses. The ride there was silent until Scotty spoke "I love you baby girl" and smiled. I smiled back and said "I love you too my cowboy". Scotty drove into my driveway and picked me up bridal style and carried me into the house, upstairs into my bedroom and laid down me down in my bed. He kissed my forehead and said "I love you baby girl soo much. You are my world, no... my universe. I love you Haylee." He stood there and watched me, to make sure I was safe and walked out and headed back downstairs. I thought about what he said and I smiled at myself. I said to myself, "I love you to cowboy." After thinking about what he said for about 5 minutes, I went to sleep.
