"Mummy!"
"What sweetie?"
"This man ses his my daddy.." She just looked at me with a frown.
"You don't believe him?"
"Nooo! Daddy should be there in my pictures!" Cress just asked him to go to his room again, taking the cookies with him.
"I'm sorry." She approached me. I just carried her bridal style to the couch and made her sit on my lap.
"About what?"
"About him not believing your his dad." She rested her head on my chest.
"No, it's alright. I think it's better to leave it this way.."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, leave it just the way it was before, him and you with a happy life, and I'll just be there, as a friend, to him though, not to you." I explained to her teary eyed.
"No, We could make him believe! I want him to have a father and your already one, so we could-"
"Thanks love, but no." I said putting her down. I walked out the door and sat outside. My son wont believe me, it's fine, I don't want to force him.
For the mean time, I just have to act like a fatherly friend to my family. Then maybe, he'll soon believe I'm his dad. But the worse part, I have to stay away from them.
I didn't realize tears were streaming down my face with Cress standing behind me. "Sorry love..." I spoke without looking up to her. "I have to go away for a while."
"You don't have to hurt yourself, you don't have to hold back, your his dad whether he likes it or not. But if that's what you want, fine. I could take care of your son without you." She turned around and stepped in. "Just remember, he needs a dad too."
I started to take a stroll, down the street, near the park and around the lake. I sat on the grassy grounds and stared up the sky. Cress is right, whether he likes it or not, I'm his dad.
I knocked on the door, hoping Chip would open it. Which he did. "Hey son, I brought something for you." I said showing a shopping bag to him.
"Thank you, mister but please don't call me son..." He said.
