My first ever teen fiction :) Dedicated to Ubetin and her Siomai. I'm sure they're not teens anymore, but you'll understand when you finish the story. Some happened in real life, some were just a product of my imagination. -M

They were high school batchmates. One already liked the other. The other thought she was a snob.
Brian was a jock. He got passing grades high enough to keep his basketball scholarship. He was always surrounded by his friends. Everyone loved him. Despite that, he still thinks that something or someone is missing. He never found a girl that could fill his heart with love.
Christine was a nerd. Her name was always included in the honor list. She often reads a book under a tree she used to climb when she was younger. She has a few friends but chooses to be alone with her books. She likes a guy but knows that she's out of her league.
They were from different groups who only knew each other by name. Christine only remembers a specific incident involving Brian. She dropped her favorite pen while rushing her homework. Her seatmate instinctively picked it up but Brian got it from him and returned it back to her. Christine bowed her head so Brian wouldn't notice that she's blushing.
Graduation day came. Christine wanted something to remember Brian so she got up with all her courage to ask him for a picture. He agreed and that was it. Their last meeting.

After five long years...
Brian, who changed a lot, was forced by his relatives to join them for karaoke. He wasn't good at singing and didn't know any new song. He came across One Direction's " What Makes You Beautiful". It was not his type of music but there was this tingly feeling that made him like it. He immediately went online and Googled for a download link. He then opened Facebook and was shocked to see a status message, "Baby you light up my world like nobody else." It took him long to remember who she was. Luckily, she was online and their never ending conversation started.
He can't get her out of his head. Brian felt head over heels with his high school batchmate. He knew that the song ignited a fire in his heart. Someone was slowly filling his heart with love. He made an impulse decision and filed for a vacation leave. Booked a flight to the City in the Forest and next thing he knew he was in his room packing his stuff.
He asked Christine to fetch him in the airport. Without hesitation, she agreed. They were both counting the days before they could finally meet each other again.
One bright morning, Christine hurriedly went to the arrival area and sat on a chair while drinking coffee. Due to her excitement, she didn't notice that she was an hour early. She was having mixed emotions while constantly checking her reflection in a pocket mirror. Do I look okay? How will I greet him? How? What? Why? She was so nervous that she jumped in her seat when a man suddenly appeared in front of her.
They had brunch in a nearby noodle shop. Brian's first treat ofcourse. They talked about their work, their old classmates, and what they did after high school. It was almost 3pm so they decided call it a day for both of them to rest. Brian paid the bill. Christine noticed that something familiar was in his wallet. She asked about it but Bryan didn't want to tell her yet. She eventually had to let it go.
They were spending almost everyday with each other. Sometimes, Brian would visit her in her office so they could have lunch together. Both having mutual feelings for each other.
One day, Christine and a friend had just left their office and were craving to eat Siomai in a nearby food stand. When they were a few buildings away from the stand, Christine saw Brian clapping and smiling at her. He said that he was clapping because he likes the way she walk. It was weird but Christine was blushing. He joined them in their afternoon Siomai and paid for everything. Christine drank from a bottled water and Brian drank from the same bottle after. Christine was smiling so Brian asked why. Christine, like a liitle girl, said that they were able to kiss, indirectly. They both burst in laughter as they went home.
Brian was getting bored because Christine was out at the mall doing something for her aunt. An idea popped in his head and decided to go to the mall too to see Christine. He saw her from the corner of his eyes. She was asking the sales lady which looks nicer between the two dresses she was holding. Brian suddenly appeared and said, "This looks prettier, but you look the prettiest." Kristine once again blushed. They bought the prettier dress and went out of the department store to eat some ice cream.
They were both smiling from ear to ear when Brian knew that he needs to bring something up now. His vacation leave was over and he needs to go back to Isabela. Christine, who thinks that she shouldn't be selfish, said okay. He was leaving the next day.
He was at the airport when he texted Christine that he will be back soon. He just doesn't know how long is soon.

After a month...
Christine entered the office feeling gloomy because of her asthma. She was wondering why it was so noisy because any why a lot of her officemates was near her table. She walked slowly and saw that someone left her a bouquet of Daisies, her favorite flower, and a note saying that a surprise awaits her after her work.
Time was so slow. She was so fidgetty that her officemates got irritated already. They knew the obvious reason behind it.
Finally the longer hand reached number 12 on the clock. Brian appeared and opened the door for her. He led her to a restaurant that was their favorite during high school. After, they went to the Siomai stand again and ordered ten pieces with Sago't Gulaman. Christine teased him that he was getting richer because he didn't buy bottled water anymore. It was still early so then went to the mall after.
After the guards checked their bags and they were together, the chorus of What Makes You Beautiful suddenly played. At that moment, they both knew that the stars aligned perfectly. They were staring at each others' eyes, both sparkling like the stars above.
On their way home, Christine suddenly remembered about the familiar thing in his wallet. Brian, who knew exactly what it was since it has been in his wallet for years, told her to wait until they reach Christine's porch.
He got his wallet, got the familiar thing, and showed it to Christine. It was their only picture during graduation. The other great news is that he's back for good.
