If you've come from my other book then you've already read this, but feel free to carry on if you want!
"We've gotta go pick up the kids Z..." Liam murmured huskily into his husbands ear. He didn't want to go anywhere, it was the first time they'd both had the day off in forever and as much as he loved his three gorgeous children it was nice having some alone time with Zayn for once.
However, the minutes were ticking by and if they didn't leave soon they'd be getting a few angry texts from the twins and the day was going so well so far, agitated preteens were not on the agenda.
"Can't they walk?" Zayn grumbled, opening one eye. Liam shook his head with a playful smirk, "that's an amazing idea but it's like three miles hon, that would be mean."
Zayn smiled and sighed, sitting upright on the couch. Liam was on top of him, clothed unfortunately, so the process was a little slow but he got there in the end after Liam shuffled off of him a little.
"I'm driving," Zayn stated, sliding into the pair of shoes beside his feet. Liam hurriedly stood up and ran off, "not if I beat you there!" He laughed as he disappeared around the corner.
Zayn grinned as he finished with his laces. Liam could drive if that would make him happy.
They drove to the primary school with the radio pounding, windows down and belting out every lyric. Zayn was kind of glad that he'd let Liam drive, his husband was far better at driving distracted than he was.
"Hey bud!" Zayn greeted chirping as their little blond son jumped into the backseat grinning like mad.
"Hello!" Niall replied, chucking his overly big backpack onto the floor and strapping his belt over his chest. He wasn't that big for a six year old but none of his friends used big car seats anymore so they'd upgraded to a small booster recently and he was very happy with himself.
"How was school?" Liam asked as he put the car into gear and drove out onto the street in the direction of the twins school.
"It was good! We did art, and maths, and then at lunch me and Billy played..."
The excitable six year old went on and on, speaking nonstop right up until they pulled up in front of the school. Both Liam and Zayn nodded along, trying to keep up with Niall's fast words. They shared a glance, silently communicating about how sweet their youngest was before the side doors both opened and the twins appeared along the backseat too.
Niall smiled at them both cheerfully, giving Harry and Louis the usual fist bump.
"Hi, yes, school was just fine, thanks for asking." Louis grinned when he saw his Dad opening his mouth to ask the same question he always did. Liam shut his mouth and rolled his eyes.
"How about you Hazza?" Zayn rotated in his seat so that he could see his son properly. He frowned upon noticing the paleness to Harry's features.
"Kinda feeling sick, can we please just go home?" Harry asked quietly, staring at his papa pleadingly. He hadn't felt very well all day and he really wanted to go home and have a nap.
"Course Buddy, what's wrong?" Liam looked at him in his mirror as he rolled onto the road as requested.
"Tummy hurts," came the short reply.
Liam felt kinda guilty as his precious twins had been six weeks early and they had both had problems with their health early on. But now although Louis just thrived, twelve year old Harry seemed to have a weak immune system and caught absolutely everything. Liam worked as a nurse and on his ward there had been a massive outbreak of a norovirus. Even though he kept to the correct procedures of not spreading it like good hand washing and various other rules he felt that if Harry really was sick it was probably his fault.
