My plan would come together, she would die.  I just need her away from her little friends; if it weren’t for them she would be dead.  The Evil One will not need to kill me, I will give him his souls, and when he gets hers he will make me immortal.

I will make humans suffer for eternity.

I walked through the gates, my hood up and shadowing the wound from the arrow.  The Evil One was able to give me lives, but he was unable to heal me.  I look as though I shouldn’t have survived, and I didn’t.  But I am back, and I will kill her.

A few people glanced at me, but there weren’t many.  I strolled through, and before long I met the castle gates, looming before me taller than trees.  One of the guards held out a hand. “Halt,” he said. “What do you need with the king?”

“That is for him and I to discuss,” I said, waving a hand and freezing them. “And I don’t think you’ll be able to stop me.”

With a laugh I went past them, pushing the gates open easily.  The path to the door was short, and it wasn’t long before I was pushing it open to the stone floor and walls.  I walked through, admiring all the gold and riches, before I came upon him.  He was in the dining hall, helping himself to a large lunch, and I stopped at the opposite end of the long table, clearing my throat to alert him I was there.  He looked up, cup halfway to his lips, and gave me a glare.

“How did you get in here?” he asked. “And who are you?”

I tried not to let my anger go.  He thinks he commands everyone and everything, I must remember that.  He is unaware that I have been sent by the Evil One, if he knew he would do as I say without question.  But I have no need for a servant. “I am sorry to disturb you, your High—”

“You are not sorry!” he shouted, interrupting me. “Do not tell me lies, peasant!”

I ground my teeth. “Of course, my lord,” I said with a small bow to hide my glare. “I just wanted to inform you that I have discovered the identity of the thief that has escaped your grasp.”

He snorted. “And say you really do know who it is, what is his name?”

Her name is Robin Hood,” I said simply.

“No mere girl could possibly steal from the rich and get away!” he shouted. “It must be a man!  That name is familiar; he is a character in a book, yes?”

“Yes, my lord,” I said. “But she has held that name for much longer, her whole life in fact.  And I know it is her.”

“How can you be sure?”

“The arrow, only she has ones of yew and owl feathers,” I said. “Also, she has been living out in the woods, yet is able to buy food and clothes every day.  Ask any in this town, they will confirm.”

“You could be making this up; it could all be a lie.”

“Why would that stop you?” I asked, and he narrowed his eyes.

“True,” he said, seeming to ponder over all I had said. “But she has still stolen few coins.  Catching her is not my top priority.”

“She has not only stolen,” I said quickly. “She has killed two as well.”

“She has?” he asked.

“Yes.”

“Who?”

“William Bohen and Nick Terrell,” I said.  I know that the Will boy is not dead, but he has not been spotted by anyone for a few weeks.  And Nick, he is dead.  I killed him, but he is still dead.

“I see,” he said. “And you saw her do this?”

“I did, my lord,” I lied.

“I see.” He stood and walked around the table to see my face, but I just retreated into the hood a little more. “I shall make her an outlaw; she shall be killed on sight.”

“Will there be a reward?” I asked.

“Yes,” he said. “Anyone who brings me her body will get fifty gold coins.  Now leave me in peace, the announcement shall be made tomorrow at noon.”

I bowed to hide my smile. “Thank you, King Richard.”
