Fairy shit. The excrement of magical beings that are of the natural yet supernatural world. Most likely from a lower class Fae than the High Fae. High Fae would never do something so improper as to shit in the woods. Low class Fae are brownies, fairies, pixies, and any other that doesnt look like high court. High Court Fae are beautiful beings that have ethereal grace and are extremely dangerous to us mere humans but, other than that they are the most similar of fae to us. In reality however any type of Fae is dangerous to humans. Fairy shit is one of the many dangerous examples. Fairy shit glows and looks like neon paint with glitter beneath fluorescent lighting. Yet, it still retains the shape of shit. Not that I would know, since it was smeared all over the nice white (no longer sterile) walls of the hospital. It looked like a rave queen died against the wall.

That last part wasnt a witty comment or me trying to be funny. Fairy shit is highly addictive and if used too much, you would over dose like any other drug. Once someone starts to over dose, shit leaks out through every hole in the body (the neon kind) and after about 3 hours, from when glitter first started to leak out, the person pops like an overfilled balloon. The cleanup is a pain and there is always a spot that is missed no matter how well cleaned an area. But, from what I hear the high is an amazing ethereal experience where you see through glamour, feel the earth alive beneath your feet, and tons of other life altering experiences so, I suppose it could be argued that popping like a pimple is fine.

The point is the cleanup sucks for whoever is left behind and since I was a volunteer at the hospital I was stuck doing it. I dont usually do the cleanup, but the last janitor got addicted to fairy shit and quit. The hospital hasnt found a replacement so I was stuck with the job. Usually I hang out with the patients that are stuck at the hospital long term, you know the ones that are on hospice, have a terminal illness, cancer, surgery, etc. I help make them feel better, which helps make me feel better. No its not some sick sense of satisfaction I have a completely real reason.

I have this ability well more like a curse, I have the ability to heal virtually any naturally occurring illness. What I mean by that is if someone gets sick I can simply lay my hands on them and heal their sickness. However, the deadlier an ailment the more intimate or prolonged the contact has to be between me and said person. Which is why I dont go out of my way to use the power. I would ignore it completely, but when I do weird things start happening around me and people notice. I used to live in an old apartment complex in Oregon and after I had gone a month without using my gift and I started attracting flying fairies outside my windowsill. They just gathered and happily flew around the flowers I had and the longer I avoided healing someone the more gathered. They started trying to come into the house with me and hiding in my hair when I went out. I went to the hospital and healed a cold after I went outside and ran into a swarm of them. One nearly took out my eye with its pin like sword.

After the healing the little fae did not go away in fact, they eagerly stayed and showed no sign of leaving. They were attracting the attention of my neighbors and there was a rumor of a news station wanting to look into it. Now I dont have a fear of public speaking, but there was no way to explain away the attraction of the fae to me and if I said it was because I could heal people, there would be millions of people lined up at my door asking to heal loved ones. And I wasnt willing to risk it. So I packed my bags and left.

I moved to Nevada next and tried to use my power as often as possible so it would not build up. I think my power is almost like a metaphysical muscle because the more frequently I used it the stronger it became. I realized this after I took the hand of a child dying of cancer. I simply wanted to take their suffering away, but as soon as I grabbed their hand the cancer was cured and the child came back from the brink of death. The family was ecstatic and were screaming my praises to the doctors saying I had cured their dying child. I had, accidently, but I didnt want anyone to know. So thats how I ended up in the sunny state of California. I moved into an apartment in the city of San Francisco, a city filled with bumper to bumper traffic, smog, and amazing Chinese food. Now Im trying to keep a delicate balance for using my power to keep it in check.

Which brings me back to why Im at the hospital today. I needed to do my monthly routine of exercising my powers, when I got stuck on cleaning duty. I was still trying to scrape the neon pink off the wall when I heard a child crying.

An ambulance had just come in with some car crash victims. A young woman was lying on a gurney while a team of doctors worked over her. The crying came from a little girl probably about five clinging on to the gurney as another volunteer tried to pull the young girl away.

The girl had a few minor scrapes and bruises and looked like the perfect type to use my ability on. I walked over to the volunteer that was being smacked with small tiny fists of fury as she walked away from the mother. I spared a glance in the mothers direction.

Clear! A loud thump could be heard as the mothers body lifted from the force of the shock through her. Still no rhythm give 1 cc of epi and begin compressions once again!

I turned away. I couldnt help her without drawing attention to myself. I continued my way over to the volunteer who was still struggling with the child. By the time I was within earshot the man looked like he was tempted to drop the little girl and call it an accident.

Hey would you like some help, I asked politely. Im usually pretty good with little kids.

The man practically threw the little girl at me and walked off with a snide, good luck and good riddance.

The child was still wailing and kicking up a fuss, but I used the fact that she was in my arms as a chance to examine her health.

I essentially sent my aura into her, kind of like searching hand to see if there was anything else amiss with the child other than her superficial external injuries. I was concentrating on calming her down when, my hand slammed into a wall. In her lower abdomen she was bleeding internally. She had probably been bleeding out this whole time and no one wouldve noticed till it was too late.

The girl had stopped crying when I tensed up and was studying my facial expressions carefully as if she could tell I was doing something. Her intelligent eyes pierced into my own and asked, Is there something wrong with me?

Shit maybe she was one of the people who have weird psychic powers, but who am I to call a power weird. I gave her my most reassuring smile and lied straight through my teeth, everything is fine, sweetie. You have nothing to worry about.

Her small face scrunched up with suspicion, but she nodded her acceptance at my lie. Suddenly exhaustion washed over her face and her eyes began to close. Im sleepy now. I think I need to take a nap. Her eyelashes fluttered against her cheek.

Honey, can you try to stay awake for me? Please? I begged her fearing that her injuries were beginning to take affect.

I dont think so, Im really sleepy. Her voice drifted off and I began healing her as quickly as I could. I sent my hands to unwind the damage by breaking apart blood clots and helping skin repair itself. I helped the body reabsorb some of the blood and kick started her immune system to create more blood. By the time I had finished all the healing, sweat was dripping down my forehead and I was breathing a little hard. I had been sitting in a rocking chair for over an hour rocking the small child. She was sleeping peacefully now and fully healed even the small scrapes and cuts on her had disappeared.

Damn I must have overdone it again. I need to get out of here before someone notices. I looked around for a nurse and quickly handed over the sleeping child letting her know what happened to her mother. The nurse knew exactly what to do and scurried off with the little girl. I ran back to the volunteer lounge and grabbed my purse before running out into the cold summer night.

I wish I had noticed a pair of intelligent eyes following my retreating figure.
