Caffeine Rush- Chapter 2

You looked out the window as the airship descended back to Beacon, having spent the past few days at home to catch up with your family, and saw dozens of students from the other academies filing into the amphitheater. You chuckled as you and your teammates Nick and Carmen grabbed your stuff and were met with a waving Daisy and Team RWBY at the docks. Reuniting with everybody, and Nick giving Ruby a kiss on the cheek since they were officially together, you dropped your stuff off in your dorm room before heading down to the fairgrounds while Ruby's team went to get in some last-minute training. The sights, sounds, and smells of the fair were a welcome change from the classroom environment as you sampled some noodles from that shopkeeper who seems to run almost every store in the commercial district. After finishing, you ran into Penny with her usual Atlas entourage, happy to see her still being her usual quirky self.

When Penny had to leave you waved goodbye and soon heard the sound of a trumpet on the air. Turning a corner, a dark-skinned boy with rectangular sunglasses and a fedora came around playing a horn. Looking like a jazz player through and through until he finished, and when he saw you he started laughing and you realized who it was that was standing in front of you.

"Flynt Coal?! Dude, it's been years!" You said as he walked forward and met you with a bro-hug

"My boy (y/n), it has been too long!" He laughed as you introduced him to your teammates and he introduced his partner Neon to you all

You all got to talking for a bit, Neon and Flynt mentioned literally running into one of Ruby and Yang's friends named Coby when you heard a voice call out behind you.

"Hey (y/n)!"

As you turned around, you smiled to see Coco Adel herself walking up to you.

"I thought I told you to call me when you landed." She said as she wrapped her arms around you and kissed you

"I was going to, but I ran into an old friend from Atlas." You said as you motioned at Flynt

"A friend huh?" She said as she looked him over, "Love the outfit."

"Right back at you sweet thing. So (y/n), you two are together?"

"Yep, amazing how a horde of Grimm coupled with a White Fang encounter can bring two people together." You said as everybody laughed and talked some more when a large screen appeared on one of the Academy's walls showing a feed from Amity Colosseum of Professor Port and Dr. Oobleck.

They broke down the procedure of the tournament before moving to the random selection of teams for the next fight. Watching the pictures of the teams participating scroll by for a few seconds, the faces started to slow down to show Team CRDL on the left side and your team on the right.

"Looks like we're up next." Nick said

"Against Cardin's team too, they might as well give us the win now." You chuckled as you all started heading for the docks to head up to the arena.

A quick airship ride up to Amity Colosseum and a quick kiss from your girlfriend later, you were being lifted into the arena from below. Cheers and whistles greeted your ears as you spotted Team CFVY sitting not too far from Team RWBY and you thought you heard Coco scream "Take 'em down baby!" as your opponents arrived soon after followed by a grass and urban outer area. You had talked strategy on the airship and as soon as the horn sounded you put your plan into action. Daisy kept Sky occupied while Russel was chasing Carmen through the grass. Nick actually took the offense against Dove, his guns Ebb and Flow rang through the wrecked buildings of the urban area while you and Cardin were dead center in the ring. Cardin was swinging his mace frantically and you were blocking every strike with your gauntlets. You saw an opportunity after he overcommitted to a swing and went on the attack, landing punch after punch on his chest plate before sweeping his legs and getting some distance.
