After a long night of recordings, you had all slept well and were prepared to start learning the dance. PD had called you all to meet in the living room so your choreographer could show you the dance. The group stared at the television as the choreo teacher and seven other people dance to the first song, "No More Dream" The moves looked really good, flawless you could even say. There wasn't one move in the entire song with all eight of them dancing, that looked off or out of place. It scared you a bit, the bar was set high if you wanted to succeed in the Kpop industry. You had made it through military training but were unsure if you would be able to re-create their dance steps. You looked around at the boys who were all too engrossed in the dance to notice you were watching them. None of them looked scared like you were, not even Jungkook, they all looked excited, antsy to get started.
"-And that's the dance we created," The choreographer spoke and shattered your thoughts. "We will be helping you learn it and it is difficult, so don't feel bad if you don't pick up the steps right away," His words calmed you down a bit but you felt the need to be as good, if not better than the older boys.
"Alright, you eight follow him to the official dance practice room," PD instructs. "You're going to do great Bangtan!" Everyone gets up from their positions on the couch except Yoongi, who then gets yanked up by Jin. The choreographer walks through the front door and down many long, winding hallways with BTS trailing behind him. As the boys walk in a sort of group, down the hall, you separate yourself from them a bit. Hobi notices and slows down to walk beside you.
"What's wrong Y/N?" He asks quietly, so that the other members don't hear your conversation.
"Nothing, I'm just tired," You say and continue walking, but Hobi stops. Five feet ahead, you turn and face him. "What are you doing?"
"I hate it when you lie to me and the other members," He replies. "I know you are doing it so we don't worry about you, but when you hide stuff for no reason, it's pointless and stressful for everyone" You look down, partly embarrassed and partly ashamed.
"Sorry Oppa, I didn't realize it meant that much to you," After a minute, you look up and make eye contact once again. "I'm just nervous. For our debut and everything but mostly the choreo. All of you are older and more experienced than me, I don't know if I am going to do as well as all of you..."
"Don't be ridiculous Y/N, I have seen you practice, you are definitely one of BTS' best dancers. You are going to do great," Hobi catches up to you and gives you a hug. "Let's go catch up with the other members now, PD might get mad if we're late," He takes off running and makes sure you are keeping up with him before speeding up. In less than a minute, you had caught up with the other boys and rejoined the group. They seemed so engrossed in what seemed to be a debate, that they didn't even notice that you and Hobi were gone. As you approach them, you begin to hear what they are arguing about.
"Coca-cola is better, by far!" Jimin says,
"Wrong! Pepsi, is so much better than coke," Jungkook argues. You and Hobi begin to walk beside all them.
"And here we were, thinking you were finally being normal and discussing normal things," You and Hobi laugh at them. As you keep walking, you approach the door to what you assume is the professional dance studio. The choreographer opens it and you all file in, onto the hardwood flooring.
"Alright, to start, we are going to learn the actual dance first then we will add in the positions and a sped up track," He begins to explain what you are going to be doing. "All of you stand on the tape, facing the mirror," Pointing to the tape on the ground, he instructs all eight of you to go over to it. Standing on the line, you all look to him for further instruction. He walks over and stands facing the group and begins to show you how to do each step. After a few hours, all the boys had the steps down, but you were struggling with them a bit. The choreographer surveys everyone and nods.
"I think we are ready to try it all-together but with no positions or track to start. I will also be facing you, doing the moves and helping you keep pace," He grins. "You all picked this up so fast, I'm very impressed," He stands in front of you all and gets in a sort of starting position. You all stand in the poses you were instructed to as he starts.
"Ready, and... five, six, seven, eight," He slowly does the dance as everyone follows along but you find yourself to always be a step behind, fumbling. "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, and down! Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight," After another few hours of struggling, and the instructor not noticing, he finally ends practice for the day.
"Wow, it's already six," Namjoon looks at his watch.
"Really?" Jin says. "Let's just order food then, I'm getting hungry and I'm too tired to cook," He and Namjoon walk out of the room after the choreographer, with the rest of the members following closely behind.
"Yay! Takeout!" You hear Taehyung exclaim. Smiling slightly, you watch as the boys leave and start to walk all the way back to the dorms. But instead of following them, you went in the opposite direction, in search of the personal dance studios. In a few minutes you have found them and have gone inside to practice on your own. You bring up the choreographer's dance video on your phone and watch it again, before attempting to dance. You only make it 30 seconds in, before falling down on the turn you have to make. Standing back up, you get in your starting pose and try it again. Time passes and you become so focused on being able to do the dance, you don't even notice when someone walks into the room. Continuing on, you get to a part where you have to change places with another member and as you dance, you trip and fall backwards. You close your eyes, waiting for an impact with the ground, but it doesn't come. Someone had caught you before you hit the ground. You open your eyes as they help you stand up straight again.
"Are you okay Y/N?" You turn to face them, only to see Hobi.
"Yes, thank you for catching me," You reply. "But, umm, why were you in here Hobi-Oppa?"
"Nobody knew where you were, so I told them I'd look for you while they ordered dinner," He explains. "I noticed you were struggling a bit in the lesson today so I figured you'd be here,"
"Yeah, I don't know how you all picked up the steps so easily," You say.
"You're overthinking the steps, remember that it doesn't have to be perfect," Hobi starts. "Loosen up a bit and try it again with me, but slower this time," You take a deep breath and follow the steps Hobi starts doing. When you get to the end, it suddenly hits you that, you had just danced the entire song! "And there you have it," Hobi smiles. "Not so hard after all, is it? You are a very good dancer, I have seen your practices, but you overthink the small details. Nothing is going to be perfect on the first try, just relax and take a deep breath. You did great today,"
"Thank you Oppa," You smile at him and give him a hug.
"Anytime Y/N, I'm always here for you," He says, hugging you back.
A/N:
