It was almost time.

I checked my reflection one last time. Bedecked in a the traditional red and gold saree and several heavy gold jewels , I met each of my best friend's eyes in the mirror. They all had tears in their eyes. Next, I looked at my mom, aunts and my grandma .They gave me proud smiles.My mom rushed forward and gave me a tight hug. someone knocked at the door again. I unlocked it and it gently swung open. My dad gave me a teary smile. 

Holding a coconut in my hands , as per tradition, i took slow steps towards the marriage Dias and took my place on a small wooden stool. The traditional white blanket separated him for me. It would be lifted after a few ceremonies . As the initial mantras (Sanskrit incantations) were recited, My mind wandered to the beginning......

No! not when i first met him, but even before.......
