Chapter 3

"Are they coming yet?" _____'s voice was a little desperate, and she stomped her feet, which she must have done a hundred times already, in an attempt to keep warm.

They were trapped in the armoury for more than an hour with no signs of rescue.

The heavily guarded facility was dead silent. Which aroused Shen's suspicions.

Could this have been a sabotage in an attempt to assassinate _____?

Ever since she arrived, the Ionian council has been at unease.

As leader of The Kinkou Order, it was his job to keep the peace and balance of this country.

"...Shen? Shen." _____ called out.

Shen quickly broke his train of thoughts, "Yes?"

"When are they coming?"

"I'm afraid not till tomorrow. But not to worry. The spirit refuge will hold."

Well, this is just great

She mentally cussed. Another eight more hours till dawn, stuck in this cold stuffy ditch.

On the bright side, at least she wasn't crushed to death by concrete. She sat down beside Jhin in defeat.

Jhin, seeing how _____ shivered ever so slightly from the cold, draped his ivory cape over her gently.

This raised a curiosity in Shen. It was highly uncharacteristic of Jhin to show empathy.

Considering all the grotesque killings and displays he had left throughout Ionia.

Shen wanted to speak but held his tongue, he thought it inappropriate since _____ was awake.
Which would most likely make things awkward.

So he waited.

After _____ had gone to sleep, he took the opportunity to question the man.

"I didn't know you were capable of concerning yourself with others."

Jhin eyed the ninja suspiciously, "What are you implying?"

"I am implying that you care for her." Shen stated.

Jhin scoffed, "You think so? You really think so?

My dear boy, have you any idea how ridiculous you sound? She has been nothing but a hinderance to my performances.

It is the Ionian council who assigned me this task, if I do not oblige to their 'terms', I would be thrown back into that forsaken place.
No thanks to that father of yours."

Despite the fact that Jhin had painted on an excellent facade, Shen knew he was lying.

Regrettably, _____ had heard the entire conversation.

The trio were awoken by the sound of moving rubble.
Streaks of sunlight shone down and the blue sky was a welcoming sight.

A search and rescue team could be seen disposing of the leftover debris, while Soraka tended to the wounded.

A few Ionian council members came to discuss the matter at hand with Shen.

Leaving Jhin and _____ in the dust.

Without saying a word, _____ turned her heel and left the scene.

"Where do you think you're going?" Jhin asked.

"Away. From you." She replied coldly.

"You are not allowed to leave my side." he growled as he roughly held onto her wrist, causing her to flinch in pain.
