"I do."
"I do to!"
"Then I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride." I lean in and kiss her, I will never get used to the melting feeling inside of me. We wander out of the room saying thank you to all the guests.
Once we are out of the room she swirls and sighs. "Isobel Valdez, it's OK."
"Mrs. And Mr. Valdez, meh. I could get used to it." She laughs and looks at the ceiling.
"How did we end up here?" She asks. I had promised her a small ceremony. But her sister Liberty is a wedding planner so we let her do it. She had found the most extravagant mansion in England and managed to book the whole thing for us. It is so big that some of the guests are staying here over night.
"It was all Liberty." I walk up to her and she leans on the wall. I kiss her again. But a proper kiss, not a polite one like we did in the ceremony. I pull away as she can't because she is against a wall. "I will never get used to that." We keep going down the hall. We had to go the long way 'round whilst the guests could go the short cut.
"What do you mean?"
"The melting feeling every time I kiss you."
"Well as long as you don't actually melt it will be alright." As she gazes and all the paintings I look at her. Not in a stalker way, but in a, look at my amazing wife way. Her tightly curled hair bouncing on her back, her strapless dress that was tight at the top but at halfway down her ribs proofed out into lots of big flowers with gems in the middle.
"You are honestly, the most beautiful person I have ever met." I inform her.
"I don't think so. Think about all the past girlfriends. Or at least people YOU thought we're your girlfriend (oi!). Especially Calypso, she is gorgeous. If you had seen the look on your face at Zeus when you saw her again when we first met."
"Oh you seem to have got it wrong. I was thinking about you."
"You little lier." She points at me.
"No need to point out how tall I am. It is not allowed that you are taller than me."
"Well I have always been one for braking the rules." She jokes.
"If only that were true."
"Here we are."
"You ready?"
"No."
"Let's go then." We step into the room and an applause starts. "What are you waiting for? Get eating!". The food starts coming out and we sit on a table with Matthew (Isobel's dad), Paige (Isobel's step-mum), Daniel (Isobel's brother, Liberty (Isobel's sister), Leah (Isobel's best friend), Nico (the Best Man), Hephaestus (my dad) and Terpsichore (Isobel's mum). I had no problem with the table being full of Isobel's family. Isobel did say I could have Piper-my best friend- sit on our table but I thought it would be better if she sat with the rest of the Seven.
Soon it was time for my speech. I stand up and tap my glass.
"Excuse me. I didn't really have many ideas for a speech, so I thought I'd tell you about when I first met Isobel. Which not many people know about. Apart from me and her and Calypso (she waves). So it started off in a cafe named Zeus. I have to say I was love sick. Surprisingly, the first thing she and I said to each other was 'I love you'. Well, maybe we didn't mean it that way. I was tapping 'I love you' on the table and she replied. Our first conversation was in morse code, which is quite odd. But she was doing something kind, she had found Calypso and brought her to me. Luckily, it turned out she was a Demi-God (I could say that because everybody here either was a Demi-God or they were a God or they knew about the Half-Blood stuff.). Otherwise I would never had seen her again. On her 13th birthday I asked her out, she replied with 'spoilers' because at that moment I really wanted her to quote Doctor Who, then she ran off. I tried again the next day, getting quite clingy now, and she answers with all these things that could happen if she said yes, somehow they were all linked with books, films or TV shows. Thinking about it, I don't think she ever said yes. She did say yes to me proposing though. Which is good. I suppose you want to know how I proposed. Well unless you get Bel or any of the other people who were there to tell you. You will never know." I sit down and everybody claps. Isobel kisses me on the cheek.
Nico stands up.
"How am I supposed to follow that then? Guess I'll tell you how Leo proposed. He did it in a very Leo way. Lots of us gathered up on a street that Isobel was walking along. Leo told us to wear hats and coats so she had no idea who we were. We took turns bumping into her saying one word then walking away like nothing had happened. In fact I was given the task of saying 'marry' which is quite odd considering Bel is one of my best friends. Annabeth said 'will'; Hazel said 'you'; I said 'marry'; Frank said 'me'; Percy said 'Isobel' and at the end Leo was on one knee with a ring. She had no chose but to say 'yes' because the whole street had turned to look at them. It was magical. I only have one favour to ask of you Leo. I know you've known Isobel longer then I have but you still have to treat her nicely OK?" He sits down and I shake is hand and nod. I have to say that was a good speech.
We eat and soon it comes to the dancing. The music plays and Isobel and I step up into the middle. We had been practising for months and Isobel had special pointe shoes on, she danced beautifully.
"Wow. How do you dance in that heavy dress?"
"With much practise dear." She comes down from pointe and buries her head on my chess. "I would never have guessed when we first met each other we would have ended up here.".
"I would." She chuckles with me as people come to join us and the music changes. "Come with me." I pull her along to a family. "Meet the Rose family." I introduce them, "Michael Rose, Amelia Rose and you two must be Juliette and Angelica. They live on the street of one of my old foster families. This is my wife Isobel." I tell them.
"I understand." Michael nods.
"Can speak to you a second Juliette?" Isobel calls Juliette over to the side. Meanwhile I talk to Angelica.
"So..." I begin.
"Angelica, my parents call me Angelica." She answers my half question.
"How old are you?"
"14. What about you?"
"Guess."
"21."
"Correct!" I say and she giggles. "I have today, the chocolate trifle is a-maz-ing! You must have some."
"But my parents..."
"I'll tell them."
Isobel comes back to me and we dance with different people. Percy jives over to me.
"Hey!" He greets me.
"Hello, my wedding is better then yours." I get quickly.
"All right, all right. Chillax. Anyway, it was all up to me you are getting married."
"Oh, I'm sorry. Thank you for going out with Isobel, moving into a flat with her and proposing." I say sarcastically.
"No. I was the one who convinced you to ask her out AND got you to together again the next day." He dances back off.
Soon, the cake arrives. Isobel hold onto my hands and we cut into it. It's a chocolate gauteux as Isobel finds fruit/wedding cake boring. I'm not complaining.
"You ready?" I ask her.
"Always." We stuff the cake into our mouths. "This is delicious." She comments. Everybody else piles and to grab a piece.
I have to say.
Getting married ain't that bad.
