After school, we head over to Henry's Diner to grab something to eat.
"So, Reagan, you do karate, right?" Dylan asks, taking a bite of his sandwich.
"Yep, black belt and all." She answers. Reagan loved knowing how to defend herself ever since Dad taught her to.
"She can probably beat you up." I say laughing.
"Really?" Dylan jokingly adds.
"Maybe." Reagan adds, "You box, right, Dylan?" He nods his head.
Suddenly, my phone rings, and I go outside to answer it. "Hello? ...Hello??" I say. "Shawn Anthony McCarthny, it is very nice to meet you." A deep empty unknown voice says through the speaker of my phone. "What? Who are you?" I say back. I walk around to see if I can spot someone who's talking to me. Before I turn to go back, I feel a pain in the side of my head. Then everything goes black.

"Where's Shawn? He's been talking for a long time." I ask Dylan. "I'm sure he's fine." He responds. "I'm going to go check on him." I say. "Alright, I might as well come with you." He says, shrugging his shoulders. We walk outside just in time to see someone abducting Shawn. "No!" I screamed running towards the stranger. Suddenly he pulls a gun out and aims it at me. I quickly stop and throw my hands up, not wanting to get shot. "Want do you want with my brother?" I get no answer, just a car that pulls up. "I will find you!" I scream at him while he puts Shawn in the car and drives off.

My eyes water as I pick up a crumpled piece of paper and Shawn's phone lying on the ground. I gently unfold the piece of paper and read, "Ms. Reagan, meet us in the alley off of Ramsey Street at 8 pm this Saturday. If you don't show up or cooperate, Shawn will be killed and you will be too. P.S. Come alone and unarmed. Sincerely, M.D." I give Dylan the letter. When he's done reading he gives me a friendly hug to comfort me.
"What are you going to do?" He asks softly.
"I don't have a choice, Dylan. If I don't do what they say, they will kill him and probably me too." I answer.
"Alright, but let me help you get through this, and make sure that you and Shawn don't get hurt."
"Ok." I agree. A moment goes by before I think of something else to say. "What am I supposed to do now?"
"Well, personally, I think that neither of us should be alone right now."
"Yeah, that's probably smart."
"My mom is out of town this week, and you can sleep in Shawn's room."
"Yeah, ok."
