"Hey June, I think we are at a standstill. I mean, the only thing we have is this key, we don't know what it goes to, and there is nothing we can do about it being so late, or early or whatever it is now. I think the best thing we can do now, is to get some good hard sleep for a few hours. Maybe you can take a nice hot bath to help you relax, and settle into bed. No worries, I will be down here, I'll sleep on the couch."
"Yes, a bath sounds nice. As of right now, I'm not sure if I would be able to settle down to sleep, but you don't have to sleep down here, we have a spare bedroom. Mostly, it's Connie's room when she stays here, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind."
Matt was tempted, because sleeping in the spare room, meant sleeping closer to June, but, no he had to keep from allowing that temptation into his head.
"Thanks, June, I would rather stay down here, to keep an eye and ear on things." He headed toward the couch, and June was starting to go upstairs, then turned around and hugged Matt tightly.
"Thanks Matt, you are so sweet, and again it's nice to know you are here, hopefully that will keep me from jumping at every sound I hear." She released, and went upstairs and did exactly as he suggested, steaming hot bath, then climbed in bed, and was out before she even got under the sheets.
Russo's Lumber Mill
Frank was sitting on the bed, sitting up against the wall. Trina was sitting in his lap, head resting against his chest, and snoring quietly. It had taken about twenty minutes of soothing and calming her, when she finally drifted off. As Frank sat there, enjoying the sounds of Trina sleeping, he ran everything through his head.
Carl, the head honcho of this undertaking, was one scary guy. No heart, no soul. Frank was sure of it. He had seen Carl shoot an infant in his mother's arms, and smiled as the blood sprayed over her face, for no more reason than that he hated the color of their skin. He was sadistic and cruel, and seemed to thrive on the pain of others. Basically, if Frank got caught trying to get Trina out, there would be no mercy, and most likely, Carl will stretch it out as long as possible, as he is fond of inflicting pain, and has some experts in torture in his payroll.
Frank was your jack-of-all-trades sort. He had some knowledge in torture, explosives, sniper rifles, hand-to-hand, and he was a pretty skilled hacker. He did what he did, because he was good at it. It was what he was trained to do. He had vague memories of his mother and his younger sister, when he was a young child, but his clearest memories were of target practice, starting at around twelve years old. It had begun with paper targets, then on to animal statues. After that came live animals, so he could learn the feel of a bullet's impact into flesh, and see the blood. Towards the end of his training, the animals and targets had been replaced with cadavers, so he could learn to look a person in the eye, and still pull the trigger. Finally, he became numb to killing, there were times when he even began to feel good about a job well done. But, lately, the numbness was subsiding, and he had grown to be more selective of the jobs he chose.
He hated working with Carl and his crew, but the money was good, maybe good enough to be the last job. For this current venture, he was hired on for his explosives knowledge. Everything was waiting to move ahead until they received that freakin' flash drive. How Greene ended up with it, he had no idea. But then, he wasn't given full details on everything, just told his portion of the job. He didn't think he was going to end up babysitting, after they kidnapped Trina Greene. But, he was glad he was there for her, especially now. It made his blood boil, thinking about that piss ant, Freddy, and what he was trying to do with Trina. Yeah, so he had killed a few people, but still there are lines you just don't cross, and raping a child was definitely one of them.
