Chapter 3.1 - What the Nightmare Looks Like

Adrian's POV


"You sure you're okay?" Sam asked me, concern was clear in her voice.


"I'm fine, Sam. I'll just sleep this tonight and I'll get better."


"Ya sure kid? Ya look kinda pale." Gary asked too.


Sam and Gary, since they just live a few steps away from my house, visited me. Gary had noticed that I didn't come out of the house to mow the lawn's growing Bermuda grass, a thing that I do every Saturday.


"Mr. Clarkson, really, I'm okay. I just didn't get a good sleep last night." I sighed.


They both looked to each other before Sam said, "You should get some rest. We'll check on you later."


I smiled weakly. "Thanks..." Sam had been a really great friend today. The Clarkson father and daughter sure are both kind hearted and generous.


When they left, I made my way upstairs. I slumped on my bed and took a deep breath then closed my weary bloodshot eyes. I didn't bother looking at the clock since I know it's still a few hours before sundown. I know eventually I will fall asleep since I'm so, so, so tired right now.




Snore...




Snore...




Snore...




"Adrian..."




An unfamiliar voice startled me. It didn't sound like a man or a woman's voice.


I couldn't see anything. I feel like I'm in the blackest enigmatic space. I don't even know anymore if I'm awake or still asleep.


But I was hoping this isn't related to the black cloaked blood-sucking demon.


Then, in a split-second, a streak of super-fast light shot through my vision. I didn't feel like I was blinded. In fact, it illuminated my dark surroundings.


And I gasped when I found myself in my house.



And what surprised me...



Is that Dad was here...



With a very beautiful woman who seemed to be pregnant...
