Jack stood at the door looking for his date. He scanned the vast sea of people for his partner until he saw her hair, blond and long wearing a blue dress. Jack smiled and speed walked to her, he wore a black tux with a red undershirt, his black pants and black dress shoes finished the look. He sped across the prom dance unnoticed, a specter among the happy dancers. He finally reached his date "Hey Katie it's me Jack" he meant to say but something clawed at his voice and tore the sound down, all he could say was "Katie" The girl twirled around, her dress flaring with the motion, spinning, flowing like water.
"who are you" she said, looking him over, it was his date, but she held someone else in her arms.
"get out of her Remarse," the boy whom Katie held said with a intensity of a prowling tiger. Jack instantly knew be he was. Nick Layman, the school cool kid. Jack felt nervous, he's already been jumped everyday all year by this guy, plus his friends. Now the girl who was supposed to be a friend to him was dancing with him. "you friends with him Katie!" Nick boomed clearly mocking him. "no Nick, skeletons don't have friends!" everyone in the room laughed as hard as they could. Jack felt anger rise in him like a tidal wave. He balled his fist and struck Nick as hard as he could in the face. Jack witnessed first hand why no one struck Nick. Nick caught Jack's fist and followed up with a quick jab to the gut. The whole room echoed with the thud of Jacks body and the amused "oohs" from the crowd, howling things like wolves at the moon. Two of Nick's friends picked up Jack and carried him out. The prom rules from the start was no teachers at the dance, so Jack was out of luck. Jack stood up and dusted himself off but not before screaming the F word. He growled furious curses as he stomped away, anger filling him like a flame engulfing wood.
