Chapter One

Cath

I turn the silver key in the matching lock, my hand shaking slightly. The mahogany door swings open to reveal the flat. My flat. I put the key in the pocket of my navy hoodie then pull in my black suitcase, depositing it in the middle of the main living area. I go back out into the hallway and return with a large cardboard box, which I set down beside the suitcase on the cream carpet. My entire life fits in that case, cardboard box and the rucksack hanging from my left shoulder. All twenty one years of it.

The flat is stunning. I've only seen pictures of it because of how far away I live, and it's so much better than I ever thought. The front door leads into the kitchen lounge diner space, the opposite wall of which is mostly made up of windows. Black work surfaces, fridge and oven are on the right. A door on the left leads to the bathroom. The next door, further on from the kitchen, goes to the bedroom. It hasn't been decorated yet, but it has white walls and a pastel blue carpet already. There is another room opposite. That one will belong to Lizzie when she arrives later. It's three now, and she should be here by four. I left the house early, and she will take longer because she needed to pack up more stuff.

I sit cross legged on the floor beside my things, a huge grin plastered on my face. Finally I have my own place to call home. Well, not quite my own, since Lizzie and I are both living here. We've been planning the move for months now, and I'm so excited that it's finally happening! Moving to London means that we can see our friends more often, and that even means great things for our jobs!

Our jobs? We're YouTubers. I'm KittyCath, and Lizzie is known as LizzieMidnight. Don't laugh at the names, it's YouTube. There are people with weirder ones. We both have over two million subscribers (I'm slightly higher, but who's counting) and we've been making videos as a full time job for a few months now. We made the decision to move in together not long after both of us quit our jobs to do YouTube. She was really good friends with some other people you may have heard of, AmazingPhil and Danisnotonfire, so she decided to move to London and asked if I wanted to move with her. Of course I said yes! I have friends in London too, so it would mean seeing them more. I haven't spoken to Carrie or Charlie in ages!

Moving to London will be one of the best decisions ever, I'm sure of it.
