Neon woke up, honestly wishing they had never opened their eyes, and sitting up in their bed. They threw the blankets off of their body, and stood up quickly. They looked through their closet, looking for cloths to wear for that day. The only thing that was sin their closet was... Really tacky Christmas sweaters. They gagged, and grabbed a blue hoodie instead.
They walked to their kitchen, a sigh escaped their lips, Christmas was most definitely their least favorite holiday. They hated it. No, hate isn't a strong enough word. They despised Christmas. It was the time of year where everyone was decorating, having fun with families and friends, and being really cuddly with their lovers. It was almost as bad as Valentine's Day. It always reminded Neon of how lonely they were. It was depressing, to say the least.
Neon heard yelling from outside. Lots and lots of yelling. They looked out of the window to see their neighbor dressed in a Santa outfit, with little elves running around and decorating their gigantic rich house. Neon looked away, sitting on their couch with their hea sin their hands. They were hoping for a Christmas that was, how would I put this, not so... Lonely. And depressing.
A couple of minutes had passed, and the doorbell rang. Neon groaned, annoyed. It's 8:00 AM. Who the heck was at their door? Neon stood up and answered the door. They expected some salesman trying to sale some of their stupid products to Neon. Much to their surprise though, it was their neighbor. She handed an envelope to the brunette and them slammed the door shut, and walked off. Neon looked down at the envelope cover with confetti and glitter. They opened it, confused. It was an invitation to a Christmas party. Neon gagged at the idea of being around strangers. They folded the letter and put it in their back pocket.
Neon sat at the dining table, eating their microwaveable "Meal." They took the invitation out of their pocket and unfolded the glitter covered paper. It read, "Alone for the Holiday? Join us for our party!" Neon couldn't believe that they were actually about to go to their crazy rich neighbors dumb Christmas party.

Keth watched as his datemate ran around the house, getting ready to go to this neighborhood party. He watched them in awe. It was still embarrassing for him today that they loved Neon with all of his heart. It wasn't until they walked right though him, at that moment he was given a reality check. He had nearly faded away when Being walked through him. He remembered that he was just standing ghost and that he would never be able to love Neon again. He could only watch them. He couldn't hug or kiss them, he couldn't talk to them, he couldn't contact them at all.
Neon walked out if their house making sure that they had locked the door behind them. They trudged through the snow and over to their neighbor's enormous house. They knocked on the door, and immediately got dragged into the party. Some people were drinking and see were dancing and... For some reason, playing DDR too. They didn't question it to much and they took a seat on the couch. Neon observed the people around them. A lot of couples were kissing and hugging and doing other gross couple things. It made Neon remember how alone they were.
Keth sat at a desk and pulled out a pen and a piece of paper and layer them out on the table. He picked up the pen, ideas instantly hit him. He knew what he wanted for Christmas. No, he didn't want this, he needed it. He wrote a letter about how all he wanted was to see Neon for one last time. He folded it and outbid in the mail.
You see, the boy was in the hospital. He would be dead by the next morning. He got into a car accident due to a drunk driver hitting him and knocking him into two more cars in the process. He was grateful that nobody else had been as hurt as him. He would be the only one dead. And as cliche the drunk driver thing is, you would not believe how many accidents there are on a a daily basis just because of people being reckless.
After the party had ended, Neon returned to their home. They unlocked the door and walked in. They locked it behind them again. They walked into their kitchen and sat at the table. Neon looked at all of the newspapers on the counter. All of them were about Keth. They looked out of the kitchen window and into the garden that Keth and Neon had started in the backyard. A nicely lit gazebo was in the middle of the plants and flowers. In the middle stood a silhouette. A tall, bright silhouette. It took Neon a second to process who's silhouette that belonged to.
The figure stood closer to the house. They looked up, bashfully. Their bunny ears up in excitement. It then hit Neon. It was Keth. The Keth that was hospitalized. The Keth that was going to die. The Keth that didn't deserve any of this. The Keth that Neon had loves so dearly. Neon's brown eyes lit up with excitement. They covered their mouth in shock. They quickly ran out the back door and into the beautiful garden. They ran up to the older male and hugged him as tightly as they could. Keith was sure he was going to lose oxygen, but hugged the smaller girl back.
They both embraced each other in their arms, ecstatic to ee the other. They broke the hug after a little and looked at each other's eyes. They both sparkled. Keth grinned from ear to ear, happy to see Neon this happy. Keith leaned down and Neon stood up on their toes. (Keth is 5'11 and Neon is 5'2. Pfft.) Their lips touched for a couple seconds. Afterwards they danced, and sang, and laughed for hours. After all, this would be the last time they would ever see each other.
The next morning, Keith gone from Neon's house. He was no where to be seen. Neon cried for hours. They were glad they could have those last couple hours with Keth. And maybe, just maybe, they could see each other again one day. But until that day, Neon planned to live life at their fullest so they can tell Keth all about their adventures.
